Discussion: Al Gore Is Suing Al-Jazeera For Fraud

Discussion for article #226473

last time i checked, al gore had a higher net worth than mitt romney, and he actually earned his money rather than getting it by screwing workers.
always makes me happy when i think about that.

Don’t know much about the deal to sell Current, but I must say that Al Jazeera has done a WONDERFUL job of turning it into a prime news outlet.

I view AJ on occasion while I don’t recall ever viewing Current.

I think he is suing on behalf of other people, not himself. Yes, Gore is quite wealthy, and also is a lawyer, former executive officer of the company sold to A J. It is his fiduciary responsibility to sue on behalf of those other former shareholders in his corporation. I think he’s not entering this to get more money for himself. Typical of Gore, he cares more for others than for his own wealth.

So perhaps Gore should also sue Comcast? I can understand A J not having the projected cash flow, and delaying the payments, but that can be done through legitimate channels, not fleecing the sellers. When large sales in terms of millions happen in the USA, often payments are delayed by cash flow issues, and can be resolved in court agreements to accept delays, etc. Seems like A J is skipping out without seeking what we call “judicial relief”, basically agreeing with the sellers under court supervision for delaying payments.

I think the funniest part of all is the biggest short term winner is Keith Olbermann. Keith Olbermann quit the station and immediately sued for 75 million because of breach of contract. Just for reference he used to make12 million or so a year at MSNBC.

Here is the rub, they had to sell Current TV prior to the end of the year (for tax reasons), very hard to sell a company when you have a huge lawsuit hanging over the company.

So Current TV settles with Olbermann for $50 million dollars! He only worked there for 6 months! Quitting MSNBC on principle was the wisest investment he ever made.
