Discussion for article #228523
Why? Well, fuck, this is hard. Maybe because he’s honest and cares about the people he represents and speaks truth to power?
And he’s not on his knees sucking Koch.
Which is good news for the race in Minnesota that really matters, which is the governor’s race.
The GOP is MN is in a shambles, which helps
McFadden is running almost entirely on anti-Obama sentiment in a state that has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation and the lowest ACA premiums.
He figured that his folksy everyday guy schtick would translate into votes (he runs an add talking about how he took out his own kids stitches rather than paying the exorbitant hospital fee of $100 to have them removed).
On top of that, his yard-signs look like they were designed in the 1970’s, and ALL he has is “bumper-sticker-slogans”. Nothing of any substance at all.
He is toast.
It is always encouraging when there is evidence of support back home for thoughtful, rational, and socially responsible people with personal integrity in elected office. Kind of makes you wonder how the same region could also elect a deranged lunatic like Michelle Bachmann. There is some cognitive dissonance in this fact.
Love me some Al!
Gov. Mark Dayton also has a sizable lead and is projected to win against an increasingly incompetent Jeff Johnson.
What is truly chilling are the execrable ads being run here in Minnesota by the Republican Congressional Committee against Rep. Rick Nolan. They outright accuse him of supporting “terrorists”, “hating America” and “helping pedophiles”. They are horrible ads and are tuning off a lot of people, but the GOP in Minnesota seems completely tone-deaf to any criticism.
Even with ALL the TV Stations and Newspapers blatantly shilling for McFadden and Jeff Johnson they will both lose in November.
Those ads are ridiculous. They seem like they’re from 2002. Hopefully people remember how it worked out the last time we decided to cater to fear mongering.
Thanks. Always nice to hear from locals.
I’m guessing the retro signs are an attempt at “oh, think of how good things used to be!” nostalgia.
I’ve supported Al’s campaign, and I’ve never been to MN. I’m relieved that he’s doing well, and will likely be reelected.
I hope in his second term he will be more like Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and less of a “sign this petition guy” like Bernie Sanders. He was an excellent comedian who is having a difficult time translating his energies into action against the vested interests, who normally controls the Senate.
Playing it safe in the first term was smart now he has to get in the fray.
Because he’s good enough, he’s smart enough, and doggone it, people like him!
Rep. Bachmann’s district is heavily gerrymandered, so no cognitive dissonance here are all.
EIGHTEEN freaking points? EIGHTEEN?
Does McFadden eat babies or something?
The guy could be worth up to $57 million, but he’s too cheap to pay for stitches removal (which is generally covered by insurance anyway). Totally ridiculous!
He’s a Mitt Romney twin. He has the same type of background and he even looks like Mitt although I think he’s a bit more down to earth.
Actually the districts are in better shape after the 2010 census as Gov. Dayton vetoed the GOP plan and a non-partisan group of judges did a fair job in establishing the current districts. District 6 is the most conservative district in the state, and they will probably replace Michele with tea party bully-boy Tom Emmer who isn’t quite as insane.
