Discussion: After Whining About Rural Jail, Manafort Asks Judge To Reverse Order To Move Him

More clowning around.

Good thing I’m not the judge: I’d throw away the key.

So, is this some kind of set-up whereby now his lawyers will claim he can’t get a fair trial (idea being if he can’t be safe close to the trial location, etc.) since even his life is in danger?

Jesus on a pogo stick!

He must be concerned that he won’t be as safe in an urban environment. The facility closer to the courthouse probably wouldn’t keep him in solitary confinement.

“In light of Mr. Manafort’s continuing detention and after further reflection, issues of distance and inconvenience must yield to concerns about his safety …"

Someone’s worried about getting shivved by someone on Putin’s Payroll…

This filing runs counter to his appeal to be released from jail, as he complained about solitary confinement, and now claims that he needs it for ‘safety’. I said the other day I saw the faint signs of a flip strategy. This one also is making me think that it’s at least a topic of discussion among his attorneys. This whole episode here seems bizarre to me. I can understand wanting to be closer to prep for trial. But now he doesn’t care about that prep and wants to be safe? Huh?

Manafort is playing games and will continue to do so, as long as it benefits him.

The more his attorneys hear from him the more they bring up plea strategies. Guess he’s tired of that.

Must suck having to pay the attorneys for 4 hours of travel time before they’re even on the clock.

Upon re-reading, I get it. What he was really after was a return to house arrest. That would make it easier for him to meet with his attorneys. But given that he violated the terms of his pre-trial release, which is why he’s in the slammer now, that’s not happening. Being transferred to a tougher jail, no matter how close to home, was never what he really wanted.

Hadn’t thought of that, was a return to house arrest even remotely possible?

The former head of the Trump campaign can’t stand Rural America? Isn’t that special and so telling.

Because all Americans, even the non-white and poor ones, have the right to dictate where they are jailed, command where their trial will take place, and question the motives of the prosecutors.

No, but that kind of infinite improbability has never stopped his legal team from tossing up these air balls before.

Or a little nerve agent in the bologna sandwich.

Let us try to unscramble this mess. When Manafort said that he needed to be in a jail closer to the courthouse, what he meant was “I need the courthouse, and thus the trial, moved closer to where I am.” Instead, he got what he actually asked for, and which he now has to un-ask for, which must be embarrassing. Next, he will probably say that Judge Ellis must be changed because he is biased against Manafort due to having to make and then reverse this poorly thought out request. And these are the people who successfully stole our election?

Manafort is ridiculous. Who is paying his lawyers for this nonsense?
