Discussion: After Vegas, Georgia GOPer's Campaign Promotes 'Bump Stock Giveaway'

“Blaming guns or bump stocks for the actions of a lunatic, is the same
as blaming McDonald’s for heart disease,” he said in his statement.

It’s a death cult, plain and simple. McDonald’s, I mean. Guns are totally not a problem at all. Fire away!

“Many firearms experts determined the Las Vegas shooter’s use of a bump stock actually prevented more casualties and injures due to its inconsistency, inaccuracy, and lack of control.”

What “experts” were those?

So, this guy would outlaw firearms training, firing ranges and anything else that would improve accuracy. Well, it’s a new approach to keeping society safe.

Any idea what his “solutions” are then? My guess is more guns.

I’m sorry I have to share the planet with fucks like this.

I remember a similar no-name politician arguing after Aurora that high-capacity magazines actually prevented a worse atrocity because the shooter was using one and it jammed. Thank goodness for high-capacity magazines, the guy said. Same thing, absolute up-is-down denial of reality. As @phillydave says, it’s a death cult. To try to limit gun deaths is a sacrilege against it.

There are limits to free speech.
There are limits to unreasonable search and seizure.
Don’t get me started on one’s right to counsel and a speedy trial.
As for self-incrimination, many GOPers would love to chuck Miranda.
The right to trial-by-jury in civil cases doesn’t apply on state cases unless guaranteed by the state in question.
Cruel and unusual punishment often comes up.

But to suggest any limits on guns…AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Well, on the one hand, fuck this guy. On the other hand,

any talk of banning or regulating bump stocks is merely cheap political lip service from career politicians… In reality, the bump stock is the new, shiny object politicians are using to deceive voters into believing they are taking action against gun violence.

He’s 100% correct. It is empty lip service. There is little appetite for substantive action in Congress.

This guy is making excuses for why more people weren’t killed. Wish he was in the crowd at the time, if he was lucky enough to escape, at least he might have the slightest bit of empathy for the people that were killed, injured and their families and friends who are now dealing with this…then again, probably not, empathy is lacking in most Republicans that make it to state or federal governments.

It’s a hideous mirror image of when normal people show support for a kid with a handicap who was bullied or denied some right. You rally around, buck the victim up, show that you care. Sick.

Surprise! The Republican party is preferred resort for A-hole-Americans, in the technical sense of that term. Here’s a short blog that explains the psychological reasons why there are so many of them among Repuplicans:

Enjoy!

Um, if you knowingly sell a product that causes harm you are liable. Except, of course, that Republican’ts have made it impossible to hold anyone to account…

"…Not only that, I will continue to call out Democrats and Republicans who provide cheap talk and excuses rather than solutions.”

So, um, exactly what “solutions” for gun violence is this good Republican proposing? Oh, I’m sorry…I misinterpreted his message. He’s not proposing anything and ANYTHING that might be a solution he will call out and deride. Got it now.
