Who will make great laws everyone has to follow.
Except me.
The Big Fat Con Job and Cryin’ O’Kavanaugh: a match made in heaven.
Donald Trump is so devoid of any principles or core morality, spirituality or informed knowledge on any subject (with the possible exception of NYC real estate) that his comments on any matter are almost meaningless.
How the proceedings were playing out on television was a key anxiety. Some White House officials were not pleased with the questioning from Phoenix prosecutor Rachel Mitchell, saying she did not effectively target the weak spots in Ford’s narrative and worrying that the Democrats had seized the moment.
Imagine that!
Fair and balanced
What a slap in the face, she refused to put her thumb on the scale. A professional, something those Republican Senators have no concept of
Kavanaugh is as far from Justice material as can be. He needs an intervention, not a confirmation. Much like his dotard of a leader.
And put Lindsay in a straitjacket while you’re at it. We are being ruled by an asylum of mean, unethical nutcases. Kavanaugh fits right in.
Lindsay’s tirade came right at the point that Mitchell was bringing attention to the fact that an entry in Kav’s calendar fit right into the timeline of Ford’s account. That was exactly when she was cut off and we did not hear from her again.
Some of the news is pointing that out, but not enough. I wonder if Mitchell will bother to bring it up.
Mitchel tried to poke holes in a calm professional manner, but there were no holes in Dr. Ford’s testimony to speak of. The WH is playing a variation of blame the messenger.
You mean something a proper investigation would have identified and dug into? No wonder Republicans don’t the FBI to investigate when Kavanaugh own evidence provides such good leads to check.
At my most cynical…5 conservative judges:
Thomas and Kavenaugh have known character and sexual harassment/assault issues.
Gorsuch was was a stolen seat.
Alito and Roberts were appointed by GWB after the SCOTUS gave the election to GWB over Al Gore.
Like Colbert said, big fat con job would make an ideal campaign slogan for Trump in 2020. I’d even consider buying a BFCJ hat,
They all know that Mark Judge could turn under a tiny bit of scrutiny. Kav’s face was full blown terror when asked about drinking and/ or why he doesn’t ask for a real investigation. It was clear to all.
Mitchell was there to act as a mouthpiece for the Rethugs in a dress. She was supposed to change the optics by having a woman attack another woman.
A White House official who was not authorized to speak publicly said the West Wing saw the judge’s opening statement as “game changing” and said Trump appeared to be reacting positively.
Which only proves what I’ve heard many liberals say: Kav’s performance was intended for an audience of one. If Rump’s mood was ameliorated, then mission accomplished.
As some columnist pointed out yesterday, if a woman had had acted in the manner of many of the male Republican Senators during the hearing, they’d be called hysterical.
Now you know how the majority of us feel, you vulgar, lowlife pos.
The contrast between Ford and Kavanaugh was stunning. As my husband said, she should be the one confirmed as Justice.
Supposedly the conservative twitter accounts were all making fun of her emotional moments. Made fun of her crying etc…, and yet they were happy to call that shitshow of Kavanaugh’s a “defiant stand” or some such nonsense. I am so sad and angry about this travesty…yet again.
Kavanaugh cried about liking beer.
He was wishing he had one.
Good grief, it was a bizarre display in every way. His face was twisted and ugly with hate and defensiveness. There is no way he should be in any position of power and authority. What we saw yesterday might very well inspire a school board to remove him from coaching … and yet the Congessional Repubs will make him a Justice.
Agree with your sentiment, but I would argue that Trump’s direct experience over many decades as a sexual predator qualifies as informed knowledge.
