Discussion: After Trump Commission Setback, Voter Fraud Alarmists May Get Boost From SCOTUS

They won’t be happy until all minorities, women and non-land owners are prevented from voting!

I wonder what happens to them when they are a minority.

Guess it’s time to see how dishonest the conservative members of the court are. As when Scalia, who’d always preached deference to lawmakers, turned his own philosophy on its head to rule against the Voting Rights Act, here they can pretend no judicial philosophy, no public good that is served by these purges. It’s naked partisanship.

There’s a lot of bad stuff going on right now, but one of the unhealthiest trends I see is a blatant effort to politicize the courts and deny the vote to people you think will vote against you. If you can’t have your voice matter, or trust that you’ll be treated justly in the place you go to find justice, I don’t see how a society can go anywhere but downhill fast.

‘… voter fraud alamists …’?

These people aren’t alarmists, and they don’t fear fraud - they’re committing it with their lies about rampant vote fraud. And none of them are Democrats. We should be calling them Republican Voting Rights Thieves, pushing Vote Suppression. If calling them thieves is too blunt, then voting rights suppressors, or voting rights opposers, or vote oppressors, or just Republicans, are all more accurate than ‘alarmists’.

Edited to Add:

David Kurtz, Editor’s Brief (Prime):

As you may have picked up, the voter fraud bamboozlers have shifted their attentions from voter ID to voter roll purges. [Emphasis added.]

Voter fraud bamboozlers is good too. Also vote fraud fraudsters.

They ARE a minority, if by them we mean Republicans who advocate for vote suppression - or even if we just mean Trump voters.

Imagine the result if Trump had to take the civics test given to immigrants seeking naturalization.

Words do matter.

Sadly over the last 2 years starting with the block of Obama’s Supreme court seat and the stealing of same, It would appear that that proverbial train has left the station

That is precisely the fear that Republicans Try to instill in their very white base.

A big part of that fear is that this very white base will be treated the way they have treated minorities.

I’m sure Clarence the groper and rapist Thomas will step up and defend voting rights for his fellow blacks.

Don’t ever forget that it was Joe Biden who cut off the hearing for Thomas to get approved for the bench without any of thw witnesses of Thomas’s sexual assaults except for Anita Hill…who Biden basically hung out to dry.

And now we have Nancy Pelosi protecting the groper in chief.

The Democratic establishment (Clinton and Obama dems) are really Republicans and they do nothing for the working poor…they are almost as bad as Republicans in their governing for Corporations and the very very rich.

Basket of deplorables?

There should be universal same day registration. Minnesota has it. It works. It’s verifiable with stiff penalties for fraud.
