When 3,000 Americans die on our soil due to criminal negligence of the Republican administration in Washington, ‘they kept us safe’. When 4 Americans die in a civil war half a world away ‘its the fault of Obama/Cinton’. Case closed.

It’s so sadly predictable how all media outlets shriek with alarm about “Hillary’s campaign cratering!” even though she is still on top nationally and heavily favored to win the nomination, yet all but silent on the COMPLETE COLLAPSE of Jeb(!) Bush’s vaunted front runner status, except as an aside!
The impossible standards applied to Hillary are pretty astounding, even as they pertain the actual e-mail scandals with many of the other GOP candidates past and present. Nope, the IOKIYAR rules are still in broad effect! Really though, does anyone still think Jeb Bush will suddenly catch fire? I don’t. Can we stop pretending?

This is the Republicans’ favorite mendacious cover-up of W’s massive blunder. Yeah, there were no terrorist attacks during his administration [er, except for the biggest one in our history whose warning he blew off because he was on vacation again].
They actually try to pull this off, blaming the Iraq fiasco on Obama. Really, does ANYONE believe this?

The entire Republican voter base agrees with Jeb on this issue. While they don’t belong in a mental hospital, they clearly shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a voting booth.

I think Jeb should just fold and offer to become a volunteer for the Trump campaign…
It’s hard to run an anti-immigration campaign while your wife is an obvious immigrant.

Not as bad, but almost as bad was Jeb! blaming President Obama for the Status of Forces Agreement that his brother negotiated and signed as being the reason for the rise of ISIS. To me, Jeb!'s claim that his brother “kept us safe” and blaming Obama for the Iraq SOFA is proof of just how ill-prepared he is to respond to criticisms about his brother’s administration. It was luck, I guess, that no one bothered to follow-up to remind him that the reason his brother was on that pile of rubble was because 9/11 happened on his brother’s watch. He might be able to get away with these answers during a Republican debate, but any Democrat would skewer him.

The missed opportunity was JEB’s. Trump was gracious, surprisingly.
When your enemy is losing, you simply step back and allow the process to continue. The Donald has his flaws, but he is a very savvy adversary in political fights. He’s a clever guy, and should not be underestimated.

Yeah, when he did that 41 & 43 thing I was thinking, you’re gonna go out of your way to remind everybody that the only surname a Republican president has had since 1988 has been Bush?!?! And that’s a winning argument to get voters to elect every GOP president in 32+ years from the same family? Go figure.

If this the best thing that can be said about Bush’s presidency, then it’s beyond hysterical. For the sake of comparison, every president has “kept us safe.” In terms of presiding over a mass casualty terrorist attack on American soil, then Bush failed miserably. Matt Yglesias put this chart together 6-years ago to make the point:
He either kept us safe or he didn’t. But to suggest it was some unimaginable feat never heard of before or since is one of the craziest things ever said. Keeping us safe puts him right in line with every single president before or after him. Somehow, to Republicans, it proves how incredibly awesome he was.
