Oh, I´m confident that Florida, with the closed primary plus its older average voting population, is going to be a HRC victory.
That seems more like a rationalization than a standard.
Hillary Clinton actually has a record, and in her 8 years in the Senate she was determined to be the 11th most liberal Senator. Had she been 50th out of 100, THAT would be middle of the road. Had she been 25th, she would have been in the middle of the Democratic caucus, but 11th means she was in the middle of the left wing of her own caucus.
I wish the general public wasn’t so used to parroting what others automatically repeat just because it’s fun to say and supports their agenda.
Yes, and by Snyder resigning, clean water would immediately start flowing through Flint’s faucets! Are you serious? Real problems aren’t solved by headlines and feeling the Bern, they’re solved by solutions and hard work at implementing often long-term solutions.
But he’s not exceeding her in the midwest. He has matched her, in Iowa and got a little boost in Michigan. But to get beyond her in pledged delegates requires much bigger wins. Also, as I keep reminding people, we have seen this pattern before, specifically, in 2008, when Obama lost states like Ohio and Pennsylvania by much larger margins than Clinton trailed Sanders in Michigan. For reasons I know too well, coming from a rustbelt city, these states are somewhat inured to messages of hope. Messages based on grievance over lost plenty, however, still resonate deeply. That’s also why Rubio has probably failed to make any mark here on the other side of the ledger. I don’t know Ohio well enough, but for various reasons, I think Pennsylvania will not be as receptive to Sanders as Michigan. It has has an older population for one thing, and its cities have actually recovered quite a bit more, I think, than those in Michigan. For whatever reason, practices like predatory subprime lending did not happen in Pennsylvania to nearly the same degree as they did in Ohio and Michigan.
If it’s true that Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama in between, then Bernie will have a tougher time in PA.
How are the citizens of Flint, helped in getting water if the Governor resigns or not? I don’t care what is the political problems are, I just want to know what HRC or Bernie is going to propose to correct the problem. The very least of Flint’s problems is if the Governor resigns or not. I don’t think they really care, they just want clean water, which HRC tried to provide, what seems to be a problem for you, that she knew someone who could provide resources for the clean water. Do you really think that is a political contribution and would influence her, really? So someone gets a call, explaining a problem that he/she has resources to help people in need, and you give assistance for those people, then that is a political contribution because of the phone call is from a politician.
My brother lives in Flint, and trust me, he and his family really think that Snyder should resign. And he thought HRC´s staff handing out bottled water and raising donations was risible.
@Jimtoday Michigan
So a meaningless gesture (asking the governor to resign) is great! But actually making sure that at least some of the people in Flint get clean water and helping to raise money for the citizens of Flint is risible? Got it.
And Bernie has been rated the least bipartisan Senator—less willing to reach across the aisle than Ted Cruz is.
Bernie also keeps lying about Hillary’s position on free trade agreements—she privately opposed NAFTA, voted against CAFTA (the only trade agreement during her terms as Senator) and doesn’t support TPP as it is now written.
Yet Bernie continues to say she supports all three.
So true. It upsets me also. He also lies about Wall Street. She has not one vote in their favor. He is so dishonest and duplicitous.
I started out liking this guy and now I’m struggling to open to him.
Or still wondering how you all intend on helping out Democrats on the state, local and national level when you’ve all pledged to remove money for politics.
Been through this messiah dance before in 2008. Now we get to watch it all over again, along with the spectre of Nader since his fans will not vote for Hillary as nominee.
I take it they refused the water and then visited the doctor for the broken arm they suffered patting themselves on the back for it.
I sincerely hope that this primary contest will end soon. We are well past the point that the candidacy of Senator Sanders is making Secretary Clinton a better candidate. It has started to have a decidedly negative affect — forcing Secretary Clinton into fixed positions that will be liabilities in the general election and portraying her as a weak campaigner.
She will secure the nomination, but will be damaged in the process. As a strong Obama (and Clinton) Democrat, I am very troubled by this slow erosion, drip by drip.
It’s really pretty simple: If you support…
“Medicare for All”
$15 / Hr Minimum Wage (Family Wages)
Demilitarization of Local Police
Investment in America’s Infrastructure Build for the Future & Jobs Now
Immigration Reform
Universal Pre-K
Paid Family and Medical Leave
Judicial Reform
Taxes on Wall Street Transactions to Pay for an Educated and Competitive America
… vote for Sanders.
If you dont support these things, you should vote for Hillary or one of the Republican candidates.
It’s really pretty clear: If you support…
Endless Wonkery, Instead of Solutions
Continued “Scandal”
Perpetual Warfare in the Middle East
Tinkering, But Never Fixing, Our Financial System
“I’m Against ‘Free Trade’, Until I’m For Free Trade”
“Incrementalism” Instead fo Fundamental Change
… vote for Hillary.
If you dont support these things, you should vote for Sanders.
It’s really pretty straight forward.
His biggest lie about Wall Street is that the so-called “bailout” helped only billionaires.
Without that bailout, the entire economy would have collapsed, taking down everything and everyone.
And the loans were all paid back with interest, and the Treasury came out on top.
What simplistic nonsense.
And NAFTA isn’t as big a deal for many of Ohio’s autoworkers. HONDA and its just in time supply chain affiliates are non-union.
NAFTA is a relic of the Reagan era, and Hillary had nothing to do with its creation or its passage.
