“She wanted to be with Carrie,” Todd told Variety.
This of course is insane.
Fuck off. No, it’s not. It’s not insane to feel that in a moment of grief. Its absolutely normal.
Except she upset herself enough to bring on a stroke. Yes, you are right, but being so emotional it kills you is INSANE.
PS: don’t curse at me.
I just rewatched Postcards last night. This scene made me laugh out loud, which of course I needed.
Could she really have been so shocked at the early death of her kid? Maybe, but the evidence is clear that Carrie didn’t take good care of herself: drug abuse.
She was in failing health in recent years. Maybe the grief – which is normal when your child dies – was too much for her.
Regardless, your comment was insensitive.
But accurate. If a reckless relative has an accident, then why be shocked? No doubt you think I’m “blaming the victim” but sentimentality is easy, and thinking is harder.
Reports had it that Carrie recovered from her substance abuse problems.
But it’s nice that you can be so detached and philosophical.
Your comment is ghoulish, I would call it “dancing on her grave.”
I would call it learning the lessons of cognitive psychology. Carrie may have “recovered” from drug abuse, but the damage to the body remains. In alcoholism too, or smoking.
Emotions are cheap but you can learn more from thinking.
By the way there are plenty of parents who have lost children, and who have not sunk into hopeless life threatening despair. Sadness yes, that’s appropriate and normal, obviously.
That’s just beyond ridiculous. What’s coming tomorrow?
If you believe that then clearly you’ve never lost someone you loved more than you love yourself.
When 84 YO people who have lived a wonderful life die, we should not be shocked or saddened. She lived a great life. Now it ended. OK, that’s pretty typical, except most people do not live a life as great as hers.
Alot of genetics and luck involved, man…maybe that’s even all that’s involved. I mean, look at people like Phil Lesh (bassist from the Grateful Dead). He should be dead by now from all they did and from his liver failing, but he had a liver transplant and still plays shows at major venues at age 76 (and he’d want me to tell you right now to make sure you’re an organ donor…do it). And Keith Richards? I mean, WTF is THAT all about hahaha?
Many have lost loved ones, but many also survive without following them to the grave. Your “test” for how much you “love” someone is straight out of a Hallmark card, and as childish.
It is just so very sad. Death shouldn’t get twofers.
You miss the point entirely. That a few survive means nothing. Most who abuse themselves pay consequences.
Pretty amazing how some folks seem to be hanging on to life for some reason and can sometimes let go of it when they want,
Carrie said something recently about how her mother has had some health problems recently, but that she seemed to be recovering. Maybe she had not recovered enough to deal with the blow of Carrie’s death.
