Discussion: ACLU Flags For SCOTUS New Evidence Issue In Census Case

I’m probably wrong, but I think our conservative SCOTUS members are going to have a hard time getting out of this one.

OTOH, thank goodness for the rebellious children of GOP operatives, who will shine light on shit like this. We need more of them.

These GOP wonks really are as evil as we think they are, that’s why they are so secretive.

Exactly, the SC only looks at the record. Therefore the REPUGS could come right out and state the obvious and it would make zero difference because it is not part of the record.

And yep…according to Faux News’ website, this isn’t even happening. It’s like 90% Mueller damage control and hit-piece op-eds on Mueller and his investigation and report instead.

Those Rethugs are always interested in fair and honest elections no matter how they have to go about getting them.

And it probably doesn’t matter, because the Fascist Five are in on this…heck, a couple of them publicly salivated over it during oral arguments…so they will declare this irrelevant and issue an opinion that says “it does not matter, because even if it was part of the record, it would not change the result.”

As it is with everyone in the Trump universe… “perjury” has devolved from a ill-conceived, isolated lapse in judgement to a all consuming life-style.

Bill Clinton famously defined his people as those that “worked hard and played by the rules”. Well, it turns out that Donald’s people think Bill’s people are chumps. It is getting increasingly difficult to imagine what the middle ground between these two camps looks like.

It is a very short fall from here to “aux barricades”

Smoking gun, Tierney? This is a smoking damn crater.

Oh fuck, my takeaway from what my fellow TPM groupies have said just tells me that the SCOTUS is a corrupt body aiding and abetting the nation’s shift to fascism. This is just sooooo depressing and demoralizing.

Will the Kavanaugh court disregard this evidence? Signs point to yes.

I disagree that they’ll pooh-pooh this opportunity for advantage. This has been the party’s dream for ages and their personal dreams since joining the Federalist Society in law school. Their existential crisis requires maintaining as much control and power for as long as possible prior to the demographic shifts reaching critical mass sometime in the range of 2040-2050, at which point white Amurikkka will indeed be a minority like everyone else (albeit still the largest group in the plurality). Their game is to abuse power from now until them to do things precisely like this in order to perpetuate their ability to gain and hold power and stave off being relegated to a minority party that almost never gets to be the ruling party. Even worse gerrymandering, citizenship questions, citizenship based redistricting, voter suppression, new laws that permit taking away voting rights, the whole kit and kaboodle…it’s all coming…and the cherry on top will be their “oopsy” acceptance of foreign election assistance in the form of hacking actual elections systems and psy-ops that function as free propaganda.

Will be interesting to see what the original Judge has to say about all this.

Plus, while I get all the “they’ll just ignore it” arguments, the Courts - even this SC majority - really doesn’t like people lying in open court…

You and I have been woke for a long time. Until that Trump base erodes, we’re fucked.
Last evening I saw my 1st “Trump 2020” hat.

How hard do you think it would be to convince them that Futurama’s presidential strategy is viable with today’s technology?

For eight to twenty, maybe with good behavior, he could get out after sixteen…

I like how you think!

But with Trump’s usual behavior, he might have to serve thirty.

One would like to believe that the SCOTUS would take this new information into their decision making process and rule accordingly. But, the way things have been going with everything since tRump was elected I am totally mistrustful. I just assume they’ll rule for the enemy, but am willing to be surprised.
