Well, that pretty much establishes mens rea, no?

Not just altered, but false and misleading.

That picture always makes a very small part of me think we are living through the most intricate and massive piece of performance art ever devised. Or we exist in a simulation of a TV show. Depends on whether I’ve enjoyed wine or weed.

Tom: thanks for date on this Jan 2016 memo. It would help me a lot if someone on top of all this could give us a timeline on when the big spending occurred and when the fraudulent invoices began. Hard keeping it all straight or fully understanding the dynamics of it all. Were the fraudulent bills to support the big spending? Or did they develop later after Ukraine spigot was turned off?

It is going to be very interesting to hear the defense. They just suggested on MSNBC that the only thing they can try is to convince jurors that Manafort did these things by mistake, because he was in over his head (presumably in terms of paperwork, tax rules and accounting). While it seems clear that Manafort could have gotten in over his head, just being bad at paperwork and all of the tax rules hardly seems credible at this point. The evidence for intentionally hiding these acts seems to be pretty clear.

And as long as Manafort doesn’t testify against Trump he’ll be pardoned. He just made an honest mistake, he’s been through enough with this witch hunt. the fake media is out to get him. etc.

Yup, Manafort was in the loop and I would guess that it will be hard to explain away as a mistake. Blaming Gates and not understanding the tax rules is all they have.

Well, they can try, but when there’s testimony that Paulie made a positive effort eleven million times to alter documents, do a shell game with the money, all that fun stuff, the honest-mistake thing may not fly. I’d go with demonic possession myself. Let 'em prove he isn’t!

More likely he had a bad medical reaction to the ostrich feather jacket which made him do bad things.

Well, at least Gates admitted his wrong doing in doctoring up docs. Its Paulie who has to either admit his guilt or be found guilty by 12 of his peers!

Considering that he has admitted that Trump wrote the letter that he released claiming that Trump was the healthiest individual to ever run for President, he would be quite apropos.

How long is this trial expected to last?

If my understanding of television law dramas is correct, Mueller and Manafort can agree to a plea deal right up to the moment before the jury verdict is read.

I wonder if that will happen.

Finally, prosecutors raised August 2016 discussions of a loan application…

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait. EVERY article / news report has been saying this entire trial is about stuff that happened before Manafort worked for the trump campaign. He was campaign chair in May and June 2016, and this loan was from August.
