Discussion: Abrams Volunteers Scramble To Find Votes That May Close Gap Against Kemp

I seriously hate the headline of this article. It makes it sound like Abrams is trying to steal an election by manufacturing votes out of thin air which feeds the Republican narrative.

This is a weird headline.

Oh, Kemp says the number of uncounted votes is less than 21,000? Oh well, must be so. Guess it’s over then, time to concede. He must be telling the truth.

There have to be thousands of Abrams vote that the Kempster Fire is hiding…

Remember all those unprocessed voter registrations stuffed in desk drawers, the ones from new citizens that Kemp “doubted” were citizens, the mail-ins rejected for “signature discrepancies,” the ones signed “John B Smith vs John B. Smith,”? Kemp will be so pleased that he could boost himself into office after all his hard work suppressing the vote.

This is going to be painful

I agree. Come on TPM, clean up your headline.

The current headline for this article on the AP wire is “Volunteers track down Georgia voters by phone and on foot”, which is a much better title than the one currently on TPM. Newsdiffs.org doesn’t have any history on this article (not surprising since it’s barely an hour old), so can’t tell us if that headline was there from the start. All of that leads to the question: does TPM write its own headlines for wire stories, or does it simply run with whatever the wire service is using at the time TPM picks up the article?

Generally publications write their own headlines for wire service articles.

Google says different. (Not necessarily this article, but others.)

Kemp is a criminal governor candidate.
