Keep the pressure on, Stacey.

Absolutely keep the pressure on. Let them call her “unprofessional” or a “sore loser” or whatever. Only by continuing to speak out over these issues repeatedly and consistently will they improve.

Sadly Georgia governor race was not a free and fair election… but since a Republican won, nothing will be done about it, and anybody who points it out is a “sore loser”

So what’s the next step? Do we have to wait through god-knows how many election cycles highlighting the corruption in SecState offices to get Dems elected and start rectifying the institutional problems? Will we have a democracy left?

You gotta admit, Kemp had ambitions and he knew exactly how to fulfill them. Now, in spite of the closeness of the vote, he’s gonna govern like he’s got a mandate.

Does this mean that I don’t have to pay my state taxes?

They are already trying to come up with a way to keep their thumb on the scale
Guaranteed.
We need the House to start an effort to recreate the Voting Rights act that covers not only the blatant voter suppression , but the blatant incompetence of ballot design and counting (ya I’m talkin’ to you Florida)

That subhuman, Kemp, did the following:

 1) Chose the voters.
 2) Counted the votes.

That’s third world stuff right there.

The Republican vermin want to turn us into a banana republic.

Abrams is suing, under a Georgian law that can get the election thrown out if it was conclusively unfair (not sure the exact criteria).

She’s got the experience and the support to make this case and win it, including legal judgements during the counting that more or less confirmed it wasn’t run fairly. Even if she loses (no idea how the Georgia courts are), it should be enough to keep the spotlight on voter suppression for a good long while yet.

I’m so glad she’s continuing this fight.

Because they hold the banana and they fear demographics will take away that banana.

Sorry per the constitution blacks only entitled to 3/5th of a vote…

And that’s originalism.

Heard her on Morning Edition just now on my way in to the office. My Gawd she’s good. Steve Inskeep was trying hard to bait her into saying something that would paint her as partisan, hypocritical, or a sore loser, and she just wasn’t having any of it. Stayed politely but firmly reasonable and on-message. We need more like that.

Restoring voting rights in Georgia will be a difficult problem. One tactic that was successful in the recent election was ballot initiatives that supported voting rights and established non-partisan redistricting commissions. The problem with Georgia is state law does not provide for citizen-led ballot initiatives. Initiatives have to be referred from the legislature, and Democrats are substantially outnumbered in both houses of the Georgia legislature.
