I am sure I don’t have to tell Abrams and Gillum this, but I will anyway:
HOLD OUT FOR THE MAX!
Confiscatory taxes on billionaires. (95 percent at least.)
REPARATIONS
Universal Basic Income
Medicare for All
Anti-monopoly forced divestment of every company that controls more than 5 percent of its market.
Massive Manhattan Project to replace all fossil fuel use with solar and wind power before 2025.
Abortion on Demand
Confiscatory taxes on churches that endorse political candidates/parties.
Net Neutrality
Free high-speed wifi nationwide
Post Office Banking
Forced Integration of all public schools
Free college
Anything else?
You’ll excuse me if I don’t like the way this headline reads. They “Become Desired Assets”. Awful, just awful the way that’s put. They are persons of achievement in their own rights and this just sounds somewhat exploitive…as if they serve other Dems rather than have a personal goal for themselves moving forward.
Now, maybe I’ll think differently after I’ve had my first cup of coffee for the morning, but probably not.
Yeah, I agree that this formulation is, well, unfortunate at best.
I mean, come on, they’re black. They may have had ancestors who appeared on some landowner’s “assets” list.
Exactly. Bad form.
Yes, shitty choice of words for the headline.
Both are really impressive and inspiring with big futures in American politics, I hope we see a lot of them. I didn’t learn as much about Abrams but if you haven’t seen Trevor Noah’s interview with Gillum, it is a half-hour you will be glad you spent. I want leaders like this guy:
Stuck out to me too when I read that headline. Sounds like a consolation prize.
