The Forced Birthers want to MAKE you have that child, and then it’s Fuck You. Why were you such a slut? You pay for the kid (we won’t provide Health Care, Education, or Child Care so you can work.)
Religion fucks EVERYTHING up.

Same old story, same old song and dance. There will have to be a compromise on this one when each side stops externalizing and projecting. D&E is not really necessary in most cases with proper planning. Nobody is going to be as rigid as the Duggar’s. Life is dynamic and adaptation is a necessity. Sex is natural and healthy, we need birth control. Politics sucks. Will the republican’ts have to be saved on this one too? This is getting tiresome and it is long past time to recognize reality smacking us in the face.

Women should plan not to get cancer. Women should plan not to have a fetus die midterm. Women should plan not to have a fetus with horrendous fatal defects. Women should plan to let men decide what is really necessary in their own personal situations.

Yes, I get it. But, isn’t this why the other side is winning? When D&E is practiced routinely simply because pregnancy is a consequence that someone wants to get rid of and has been allowed to continue to a later stage. There are and should be limits on the use of D&E as a late stage method of birth control because it is pretty gruesome. Pregnancy is not a disease.

Are you fucking serious? Where have you been for the past seven years? Every Republican officeholder from state legislatures on up has converted to forced-birth orthodoxy with no exceptions. They have no interest in compromise, sensible solutions, or anything else. They’re not interested in reducing the number of abortions, they want to make it as painful, shameful, and difficult as possible as long as it’s legal, and entirely illegal as soon as possible.

My way or the highway is not going to cut it.

That’s been the Republican MO, on everything but especially on abortion, ever since 2008 and especially since 2010 when so many teabaggers got elected and realized the establishment members had never fulfilled their promises about radical social issues.

Right. If the standoff were going to work, it would have under w. Didn’t cut it then, and likely won’t in the future. Compromise is necessary.

Consequence??? Why do anti-abortion folks seem to consider kids a punishment?

In the vast majority of cases, late-term abortions are needed for medical reasons. Poor planning, indeed, to develop septicemia

Compromise is necessary.

On whose part? And where do you even see grounds for compromise on things like forced ultrasounds, unnecessary regulations to force clinics to close, and 20-week bans intended to force a Supreme Court case to overturn Roe v. Wade?

Okay, you two. Even the most liberal member of SCOTUS has stated that cutting off debate on abortion was a mistake. There is not a compromise because of hard asses who believe that abortion is a right. It is not. It is a medical procedure. The abortion debate is about divisive politics, nothing more. BTW, I believe abortion should be safe and legal, but not a method of late stage birth control. That is all.

See above.

Nice way to avoid the question on how you compromise with people who don’t believe abortion should be safe or legal at all.

Compromise comes from both sides. I never said it would be possible.

I’m just looking for some kind of example. Because I strongly suspect that you don’t know what you’re talking about, in that things like limiting third trimester abortions are either already agreed to by most pro-house groups or already compromised on, as by Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

True, nobody really knows what they are talking about when they are coming from dogma. Just looking for a more practical way. Education is maybe our only hope that we will escape religious superstition. It may be helpful if choosers stop equating pregnancy with disease.
