Discussion: A Timeline Of Trump’s Debate Night Waffling On Paying Taxes

I think the IRS would do the country a huge favor by ending the current audit right now. Then, if necessary, start up a new one after November.

These responses may clarify his reluctance to release his taxes. They are all dodges to cover up. Nothing more or less.

We don’t know if there is an audit.

Interesting point that IRS may not be able to confirm or deny.

So ask Trump if he can prove he’s being audited. He either produces some paperwork or dodges some more reinforcing the perception that he’s hiding something. Then pound it in - not a billionaire, tax skipping non-patriot, financially beheld to Russians, charity cheapskate chump - that’ll do for now. He either disproves these memes or they stick.

Edit: added Russians

The Donald is clearly being taxed in addressing all of the IRS related questions…

Unfortunately, that is not tax we are all interested in…

what’s more, trump said that he didn’t like what (if any) his taxes were being used for, citing government waste, that we pay a lot more for things…

but isn’t it ironic that tax payer and donor money is benefitting to his companies during this election cycle?

he jacked up prices for renting out his properties for campaign events, getting money for flying his own plane, etc. he’s fleecing donors and taxpayers for his own benefit. that’s a preview to what he’s all about, and clinton should bring that up in future debates.

If the WaPo report that Trump had people who owed him money pay it to his Foundation and did not pay personal income taxes on it, then it is not because he is smart but because he is a tax cheat.

Unless he thinks cheating the American people is smart?

That would be using the IRS for politics. I hope they do not.

It doesn’t take 12,000 pages to pay one’s taxes. 11,500 of those are devoted to not paying.

Just finish the audit, not political. Political is the re-start after November w/o further cause. But by then Donnie is licking wounds and evidence of corrupt tax practices would require a new audit by law. Not political.

There’s been no mention of the Mexican VAT he casually name dropped by way of the massive tax increase he wants to impose on middle class consumers.

He would find a new reason to not disclose.

Not smart

‘there is always an accident on the road to Trumpville.’

They have already said he could release them. He’s not doing it because he’s hiding something. Since he claims not paying taxes would mean he’s smart I don’t think that’s the case. I’m guessing it’s because he doesn’t have nearly the amount of money he claims and or that he has a lot of debt. Those are the only reasons I think he’d be embarrassed to show them.

That has already been done.

After Newsweek asked for a copy of the IRS audit letter sent to Trump, a campaign spokesperson last week pointed to the campaign’s website and the letter that was released by Trump’s attorneys at the Washington, D.C., firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. A follow-up query to the campaign asking for a copy of the actual IRS audit letter itself has gone unanswered.

The necessary part being new-found tax corruption. Laws say you have to look into it.

N he’s supposedly under an audit at this time.

Nah

Preserve that status quo
