Why Is Mueller Keeping His Distance From Pence?
He’s a witch?

You go roll in a pigsty for a year and a half and tell me how clean you think you’ll stay. There’s no chance. And nobody who’s not a crook can tell an obvious lie with his bland assurance. He might be on the periphery but he’s as dirty as the rest of them.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if VP Pence ended up as this investigation’s “Deep Throat?”

Pence is in. As with Trump himself, Mueller is leaving Pence to the inexorable end when there remains no plausible escape. Ironically Pence may be the cherry on top.

Ya think instead of his son’s wedding Pence was smoking a Pall Mall over in a parking structure on Nash Street in Arlington?

Pulling a fantasy out of the air — the Mueller team undoubtedly knows they’re going to re-shape the top end of the government if they’re allowed to run to completion, decimating the WH and reaching who knows how far down into the Republican congressional ranks and campaign apparatus. So maybe they’ve decided they have to leave something in place to keep the place open? According to this conjecture, they’ve settled on Pence as the least bad option.

Probably too conscious-conspiratorial, but maybe not out of the question? Recall that Obama apparently felt it was less bad to hide the Russia connection than to expose it. So in that world, “less bad” is a principal criterion of action.

I thought something similar…
Ol’ Pence can give that Gravitas stare when he announces that “Its time for America to heal” as they cart fat Donnie minus the hair products and the slim girdle off to the slammer

I cannot imagine that Pence isn’t under the microscope.

I think Mueller is just very very careful, methodical, and plays his cards very close to his chest. When you consider how much he and his team managed to keep hidden from public view for how long (e.g., Papadopoulos’ guilty plea), I think it is just part of his strategy. (And how much of it is keeping possible “targets” in the dark to keep them unsettled?)

Interesting that Giuliani is left out of this equation also.

I’m guessing he already has these two dead to rights.

At that time, Hillary’s win was a sure bet according to polls. McConnell said he would see it as a purely partisan act. Wonder if it would have made any difference. Certainly not to donald’s deplorables-- hadn’t they already taken over the term ‘fake news’ by that time - to mean anything that reflected poorly on donald? That instead of what the term fake news would actually mean - in ‘real life’.

Pence, if he had donald’s appeal to the masses, would be a far scarier player in this reality show. His lies at the VP debate were jaw-dropping IMO, because they were so sincere looking and so polished and so calm.

Pence did lead the transition team, and John Lewis did send him a letter about Flynn.

Pence’s transition team did respond to Elijah Cummings letter, with some boiler plate version of ‘we will look into it’.
ETA - got the name wrong – and corrected. - previously had written John Lewis.
John Lewis BTW is really someone to be admired and it’s sad that he’s getting old. - I guess it is his refusal to consider trump a legitimate president that got my admiration.

Pence is either part of the conspiracy or he’s incompetent. My thinking is the former.

I think Pence at least knew a lot of what was happening. Whether he was actively involved…I think so, but I’m not certain. If the “I was too stupid and unaware to be guilty” defense would work for anyone…Pence is the guy.

But, I really hope Mueller gets him, along with the rest. The guy is a lying snake - creepy, too.

For some reason your post made me think of the term ‘plausible deniability’.

We just don’t know what he might have to say.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the best. Pence is an idiot, he will play dumb, that’s his strength.

Ignorance is Power! /s

Plausible derpability.

I’ve edited publications about lawyers and the one thing that always stood out was how obsessively thorough the preparation was at the top levels of the legal world. They’re just not going to say “Oops, we forgot to investigate what’s-his-name, that white-haired guy, you know, the Vice President.” Trump is famous for being sloppy, lazy, and inattentive. This is not true of Mueller and his team.

Yeah, and Mueller’s team is obsessively discreet. I am sooooo hoping that the fact we hear nothing from them about Dense means bad things for him…

Hey, a girl can dream!

Pence also strikes me as the type who always, and quietly, takes care of himself. He’s the guy who would enter into a business deal with you and would make sure that his money was safe while yours was lost. He would then offer to pray with you over the loss, and make speeches about how unfortunate the whole thing was. He might take a nominal loss, but not significant.
That said, I think that Pence would be Deep Throat in a flash. He would sell these people out with no regrets. I bet that he has disdain for the Stable Genius and all of his family. Those people have no respect for him, and I’m betting that he feels the same way about them. The fact that both sides pretend to like each other but will use each other tells you what you need to know. He reminds me of all those holy people who hold those that don’t believe exactly as they do in contempt. They can’t wait for the rest of the world to burn in Hell.
