Discussion: 'A Big Hoax!': After Week Of Walkbacks, Trump Returns To Doubting Russia Meddling

He did the same after Charlottesville. He said something stupid, received some blowback, his staff writes up and makes him read a speech and then less than a week later he gets aggressive in reiterating his original point.

He’ll do it again. And again. And again. I just wish some of the writers of these articles will make mention of this. At the very least it would let me know that they’re aware and are keeping track.

I think they are more supportive of divide and conquer, making us fight ourselves to Russia’s benefit. The GOP was the easiest vehicle to accomplish that.

Spot on!

Delusional Donnie has repeated the lies so many times that even he has difficulty recognizing his own deceptions.

There was a op-ed this weekend suggesting we pay entirely too much attention to every Presidential tweet. The author says a lot of us who are hanging on every tweet are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. So far Trump has proven to be a clown and a laughing stock. He has shown himself to be utterly incompetent. He is more like the villain in a Mike Myers James Bond Spoof than a real Bond villain.

I am not so sure there isn’t a grain of truth in that assessment, but I am also sure an incompetent buffoon can do a lot of damage as President.

Trump’s doubling down was predicted when he walked back his Helsinki performance. The man is entirely predictable at this point.

Agreed, except that they already have the tax cuts and they’d have the judges they want with or without PP at the helm. Ultimately, this is all about hanging on to power. That’s it.

I always read “it was not immediately clear…” as being very thinly-veiled snark.

Your insights are always so enlightening. This tweet seemed to me to be authored by some hostile fast-talker like Steven Miller or Kelly Con-away.

Here is what bothers me the most at this moment. This playground bully stunt - used to deflect media coverage is ACCEPTABLE. Could make a grown person weep. In normal times - what ever they were - some stunt like this, with all the belligerence, due to a problem donald created by abrogating the Iran deal… is now just another day in DC.

Yikes, could a gag order be put on him? Maybe a muzzle? lol

Good point, when does it become witness tampering and/or obstruction of justice? Maybe Mueller’s team could tell his lawyers that ‘what he says can be used against him in a court of law’.

Slightly OT but reinforcing what Steviedee111 said - donald is commenting on the interest rate rises by the Fed - which is supposed to be an independent non-political body. They are Republican-thinking folk in the sense of what the pre-donald Republicans once were. Can you even imagine the harm he could do to the US and World economy if his bankrupt, irresponsible policies were allowed to undermine the slim safeguards that the Fed can exercise over the economy.
Economy wreckers --> Regan, Bush II and now donald. And who fixes it? Clinton, Obama and --??
And who pays the price? The American people.

So weary of all the dumbness – aren’t you?

So the walk backs were bullshit.
What a weal, cowardly, sniveling little boy he is on the inside. Every bit the insecure bully.

Dotard has no clue what a president is or is not supposed to do. He is play-acting at a 5 year old’s level of understanding of what the job entails (Speak in all caps! meet with Bad Guys and look tough! Move markets! Parades!) and the charade is hopefully coming to an end soon.

Could well be. It’s certainly a way of saying you’re not sure what the hell the real message is, if anything, and nobody’s clarified it for you. AP are incorrigible normalizers and even the suggestion this is anything but desperate yammering is part of that, but sure, it could be a bit of arch humor, there’s a tradition of that.

Why aren’t quotes from the FISA warrant application like this:

Page “has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian
government.”

And this

The agency also told the court that “the FBI believes Page
has been the subject of targeted recruitment by the Russian government.”

… and others juxtaposed with tRump commentary running in purple-state ads – wall to wall? I know why it isn’t done in red states, but this is low hanging fruit.

Hopefully it won’t get lost that Manafort was the pathway to get Pence the job of VP - and Pence will be exposed for what he is.

The release appears to undercut some of the contentions in a memo prepared by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes earlier this year.

Have I missed something or has Nunes suddenly gone quiet?
