Discussion: 9 Senators To Watch In GOP's Do-Or-Die Obamacare Repeal Crunch

You forgot Sen. Manchin from West Virginia. And no he is not a democrat.

I disagree, they are going to do it regardless who they screw, the thing here is that Trump voters don’t mindgetting shated as long as the libtards are upset. Don’t forget Trump supporters are not rational

Republicans fall in line…

With respect and good will, I really don’t think so. Americans are more and more convinced that Obamacare is a good deal. They also seem to believe mountingevidence that Trump is a bloody raving loon, not to be particularly accommodated in this debate.

I really doubt it!

If you are right, I don’t think it will help them much.

You quote Cornyn in this article; he is an empty suit. Take it from someone whose teacher association has lobbied him for years on issues like Social Security and DREAM. He always has ā€œhis own ideasā€ about issues like this. In other words, he has no ideas, other than he opposes positive changes that do not result in tax cuts for his paymasters. I admire the attempt to portray these senators as serious policy makers, but–based on their collective record of ā€œconcern then caveā€ā€“it’s really a tough sell.

I think we should tie the entire GOP Senate to Trump’s promises.

I don’t expect any GOPers from our state to believe in anything outside conservative orthodoxy. I’m sure they would love to go back to 2007 regarding healthcare. Thing is, Texas has barely made a dent in its nearly quarter uninsured rate but those people don’t vote as solidly as the ones who have insurance.

@overreach_this

I admire your optimism; but the R’s seem to be still willing to buck a slowly rising tide of sanity in the general populace to pander to their paymasters and loony base.

ā€œWe’ve been talking about this for seven years, so now is the time to start coming up with some tangible alternatives and building consensus,ā€ Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) told reporters on Capitol Hill Monday afternoon.

Um, the time to start coming up with alternatives was at any point over the last SEVEN FUCKING YEARS! Too little, too late, sucks to be you!

And @tierney Tom Cotton is not the third senator from Alaska (AK), he’s from Arkansas (AR)

I say…I hope you’re right!

I hate to be defending Manchin but, at least so far, he’s not on board with ACA Repeal and never has been on record even hinting at supporting it AFAIK. Has this changed recently?

And that’s will be his position until he gets a call from the Coal lobby telling him that Trump urgently needs a win. Manchin will then be talking about how partisanship is tearing America , blah , blah , blah,

I know that Manchin is not the greatest Democrat out there but still don’t agree that he’s likely to vote along with the Republicans on THIS. Republicans have shut out all Democrats from their repeal/replace discussion (whom rightfully shouldn’t be participating in this anyway).

I say, have at it, GOP Senators! Do your worst! The country will be more than ready for a public option at the very least in three years - or less.

It kinda is. They’ve all been jumping up and down for years now promising a repeal of ACA. The House passed a bill and now they have to pass one too. Or their ā€œbaseā€ is going to turn on them, at least a lot of them in the red states.

You have to pass the bill to see who’s killed by it

Graham & McConnell have it right. There is no route to 50 votes on Trumpcare because it doesn’t exist without Medicaid cuts, and too many fence sitters represent expansion states. See you again next year. Same bat time, same bat channel … same bat $–t results.
