This is terrible, and it will no doubt feed the ridiculous arguments of the NRA that knives are dangerous . . . but note that the headline is 9 injured and not 9 dead. That probably would be the headline had it been an AR-15.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door! Not.”
The police did not yet have a suspected motive for the Saturday night attack but said a 30-year-old man was in custody.
White male with a MAGA hat. I know, wild guess.
The conservative movement, enabled by organized religion and backed by cash-rich monopolists.
And a felony record.
And a Fox viewer.
And a felony record.
Probably for spousal abuse.
Or maybe a member of the community with issues, until we know you just look like you are trying to find something to blame on Trumpists, but if you are wrong they will point at the obvious bias and you will look less credible.
No doubt he’s white, as he was only apprehended and not fatally shot in the back.
NRA: If only he had assault rifles. He would have killed ALL of the refugees. Our founders thought of everything…
I’m not sure if there is a way to tease out the role that constant demonization of immigrants play in incidents like these. It’s quite possible (and, in fact, probable) that the person who did this is mentally ill. It seems unlikely that mental illness is the only part of this story. It seems more likely that the person is, indeed, mentally ill, but is also highly impressionable and impacted by social media and news. If it were only mental illness, the attack could have been anywhere, but if a person submerged him or herself in messages that said “X is the enemy,” it seems reasonable that “X” would be a likelier target. And before I get accused by any resident trolls of making this all about the right, a mentally ill person who submerged himself or herself into the far left could be impacted in just this way. It seems to me that one side uses more extreme and violent rhetoric than the other, but it may be that I am not aware of extremes on “both sides.”
Accepting the ideas of any side without question seems to be the issue.
Look, I totally agree, but I think everyone understands they’re guessing. It’s a sardonic way to say you’re concerned about violent, dehumanizing rhetoric. In the space of a few days we’ve seen mass attacks on marginalized groups. The Annapolis one started in 2011 with a person who has anger management problems at the very least. But why did he gun everyone down the other day, and not before? To what extent is the craziness in the air a factor? That’s what we’re wondering. It might not be zero with the Capital Gazette, and it might not be here either. We’ve seen violent attacks on refugees, on immigrants, on Hispanics, on all kinds of people the right condemns. We’re not worried it might happen. It’s happening.
And issues with women.
You should do profiling on the side. You know, like if the FBI needs someone to come in Saturdays and cover for the regulars now and then. OH and I HEREBY COPYRIGHT THIS SO DON’T TRY TO MAKE A SITCOM OUT OF IT UNLESS YOU LIKE LOSING YOUR MONEY

This is the tell quote:
…a single evil individual who attacked people without provocation
See? Lone wolf = white male, possibly a Democrat

To what extent is the craziness in the air a factor? That’s what we’re wondering.
Truly perplexing. It can’t be racial bias because I have it on good authority that our country has changed, that “Today the Nation is no longer divided along [racial] lines.” It can’t be religious bias because that same impeccable authority also recently told us that banning immigration from countries with a certain religious majority is in no way discriminatory against that religion. I think it was a real American who was reacting to the uncivil words and intolerance of Maxine Waters.
Actually, not white:
The NRA is already working on some way to use this incident to promote gun sales … A GOOD GUY WITH A GUN IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP A BAD GUY WITH A KNIFE !!!
The only way to stop a bad man with a knife is a good man with a knife. /s
