How are the Republicans going to achieve their goal of further lowering life expectancy in the US if people keep insisting on having healthcare?
“The Trump administration cut the length of the open enrollment period in half, severed partnerships with hundreds of grassroots health organizations, slashed 90 percent of the federal outreach and advertising budget, and has consistently declared the law ‘dead’ and ‘essentially repealed’…”
Nevertheless, it persisted.
Apparently the ACA is Rasputinian in its resilience
I believe that is newly enrolled and does not include rollovers
There are some things greater then Trump.
That’s gonna leave a mark on the Tangerine Toddler…
Already read a brief in Vanity Fair about how sources say he’s raging and storming because nobody out in Normal World is saying the tax thingy was the greatest accomplishment ever in the history of American Presidenting. Swear to God.
It’s still a win for the forces of evil. A smaller win than they wanted, no doubt, but the number enrolled via the Exchanges still shrunk slightly, when it should have grown.
OTOH, there are still several state-run exchanges open, so we might yet reach or top that 9.2M mark. Fingers crossed.
Despite every thing they’ve done to Obamacare, Americans refuse to let it go.
I find that gratifying from the standpoint of all of us who worked to get it passed. I know thousands of people contacted legislators.
I really love it for President Obama, too.
I guess Obamacare is not “essentially repealed.”
"The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very right of exercising our right as a sovereign nation.’
not like that phony Pearl Harbor or fake news September 11th - this is a horrible mean thing that the world is doing to us - as much as Clarence Thomas’ ‘high tech lynching’ was an insult to the men who were tortured and murdered in violation of human rights. yeah, take all the names you want - we’ve earned the contempt of the world because of people like you
It’s Donald and yes he is daffy.
Should we now start calling the ACA “ZombieCare”, since it keeps rising from the GOP brain-dead?
That just made my day!
and @mattinpa
Almost nothing I want more than an Obama/Trump presidential election. All of the FBI interventions, Russia’s collusions, the media’s mendacity would be for naught. But, alas, I’ve been too naughty for that wish to come to fruition.
People couldn’t be screaming from the rooftops any louder. They want healthcare. But the Republican’s ears are tuned to only hear the frequency of the Koch brothers. It’s like a Bose masses-cancelling headphones they’re permanently wearing.
This is encouraging. And the state-exchange sign-ups may move the numbers closer to - or even past – the total 2017 enrollment numbers. The big-picture message is “surprise, surprise, most people want health coverage, and will sign up for it if they can.”
But we’ll still have to see whether a significant number of (probably younger, healthier) people stop paying their premiums and drop their coverage now that there is no longer going to be a tax penalty for being uninsured.
Meanwhile…doesn’t the GOP tax plan count on billions in “savings” due to fewer Obamacare sign-ups and therefore lower spending on Obamacare premium subsidies? Not that they really care about their numbers adding up (surely the magical pixie dust of massive economic growth can easily cover this too), just curious whether and to what extent this blows a hole in the projections.
