As a resident of the state of NM, in which the City of Albuquerque’s police department has just recently been investigated and found quite guilty of abuse of power by the US Justice Department, I can tell you this is not necessarily a racial profiling case.
Nationwide, police forces are overstepping their duty to “serve and protect” and instead are treating civilians like enemy combatants. We have a huge problem with police brutality and use of excessive force nationwide,and it needs to be addressed soon or we are all in danger.
When officers routinely escalate situations from those that can be taken care of non-violently into ones that allow them to literally blow away suspects by claiming they are a “lethal threat”, even your Grandma running a stop sign is in danger of being executed before trial.
Take out that sentence and your post makes sense, to me. The American Indian, Hispanic and black communities faced these dangers since the founding of the country.
