This should be getting attention on a national scale, but thank you Allegra for covering it in detail here.
The Republican Party are just like Islamist terrorists. Look at the parallels. They pervert an otherwise mainstream movement (which has both political and religious elements) and use hateful media, rhetoric and lies about their enemies. Then they direct them to go after their enemies.
And you know what most Islamist terrorists have in common when they are selected to carry out heinous crimes? Mental illness, criminal behavior, drug/substance abuse.
The Republican Party is an American terrorist organization. Period.
How did this guy get anywhere near a gun?
Yes, I know it is a purely rhetorical question…
Jeffersontown. Hmmm…
My guess is this town is not named after a former President… Sorry US president
This is OT and with all the other news will go under the radar, but it’s a great (and truly frightening) piece. A bit longish … https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/10/26/1807387/-From-a-woman-who-attended-the-houston-trump-Cruz-rally?utm_campaign=trending
Thank you for that link - it was a great read.
Doany of us still think it can’t happen here?
Steve Zinninger told WAVE that his father, a licensed concealed carry holder, attempted to confront Bush with his own firearm outside the store. Bush allegedly responded by firing a fusillade of bullets.
Wait – so you mean we actually had a “good guy with a gun” on the scene? I’m so confused. That’s the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun, isn’t it?
“Steve Zinninger told WAVE that his father, a licensed concealed carry holder, attempted to confront Bush with his own firearm outside the store. Bush allegedly responded by firing a fusillade of bullets.”
In other words, good guy with a gun tried to confront a bad guy with a gun. Looks like bad guy won. Thanks, NRA.
Nope.
Alex, I’ll take “Kentucky” for $500…
They are still a minority, people.
Very true, and very thankfully, but i can no longer dismiss the possibility. Witness the fact that our POTUS was elected by a minority. We didn’t think it would happen, but it did. I fear Cesar may have been a warm-up act. The mask of their intentions has come off.
But that minority won the election. A passionate, or in this case crazed, minority can do an enormous amount of harm.
Especially when they have the assistance of certain so-called progressives who became butt-hurt that the candidate they supported lost the nomination to an opponent preferred by 4 million more voters. The major party candidates were “both the same”, right?
Where’s Susan Sarandon and her ilk these days? Privilege certainly affords them the opportunity to withstand the whirlwind they helped enable, doesn’t it?
In the summer of 2015, white supremacist Dylann Roof went on a shooting rampage inside a historically black church in Columbia, South Carolina, killing nine black parishioners.
- Charleston, SC. Not Columbia.
TWO out of last FIVE elections ended up with a president who lost the popular vote. There is something wrong with our system.
Is she ‘still’ singing that Trump will bring about the Progressive Revolution? WHAT ABOUT all the people who are suffering from his Presidency at THIS time?
People like her piss me off.
I was just going to write that, i.e. Charleston, not Columbia. Glad you pointed it out.
As a professional editor, I wish that TPM would hire somebody to go over their grammar and spelling before publishing. I read TPM avidly, but too often with a virtual red pen in my hand.
