Discussion: 5 Democratic Senators Have Called For Shinseki To Resign

Discussion for article #223287

" I have tremendous respect for General Shinseki and honor his service." But if supporting him will in any way hinder my being reelected to this “DO NOTHING” Congress, I will throw his azz under the bus in a New York minute! #POLITICIANSWITHOUTPRINCIPLES

Al Franken is in a “tough reelection battle?” How is this the first time I’m hearing about it?

I’m ambivalent on Shinseki pending further information, but if these spineless fucks had any gumption at all they’d be slamming their fucking craven GOP pals for filibustering VA legislation, creating a shitload of injured veterans in the first place, and skimping on the VA budget.

SEE: Sanders, Bernard

Again, pending further information, if firing Shinseki is a purely symbolic move and does nothing to address the actual problems, then fuck everyone involved in promoting that bullshit with a serrated broomstick.

Also, if Al Franken is in a “tough reelection battle,” then the Democrats are so fucked that they might as well burn some American flags at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

EVERY SINGLE goddamn one of these Dem assmuches needs to explain to the American public **what will come nex*t after Shinseki’s head is on the pike, after they’re done baying at the moon and rending their clothes off their bodies.

What will come next? Does “new oversight” equal “more funding”? Does the new guy get to create some sort of magic that makes things all better or does he get to stand there and make solemn promises that 5 years from now we’ll be revisitng while looking at HIS head on a pike

Damn idiots. Show some fortitude.

thunder let me leave you my favorite line about the Demowimps

As a GOPer member of Congress explained some years ago, bipartisanship consists of the Democrats doing what the GOP tells them to do.

If Obama had taken the advice of people afraid of their own shadows, then we’d still be living in a world where preexisting conditions fucked you out of health insurance, and a world where Osama Bin Laden still existed and bans on gay marriage were still being defended by the federal government in court.

Usual suspects, scared while running for reelection. During this time they pay lip service to the events of the day and dance like clowns to show courage.

This after turning a blind eye to VA problems their entire career. I am waiting for just one, to offer a plan of action, with their cat calls. Fear is a powerful emotion.

Facing a-tough-reelection Shaheen thinks six years is sufficient time to reverse the decades long, systemic problems of the mishandling of the VA (and don’t get me started about bush and his wars of choice and all the service members needing medical care because of them). Does she think that in six years as a Senator she’s accomplished what she set out to do? Or she is listening to closely to Scott Brown?

“Now is the time for Senator Shaheen to break from President Obama and stand up for our veterans to call for new leadership at the VA.”

This was a massive failure of command. This isn’t about not being able to do more with less. This is about lower level administrators falsifying reports to protect their pay raises and bonuses. The fact that it was going on before he came on board is not an excuse; it is the job of a senior administrator to root out something as egregious as falsification of records. Failure to do so is failure of fundamental responsibility.

"“I have tremendous respect for General Shinseki and honor his service to this nation,” Shaheen said in a statement. “However, it has become clear that after six years as head of the Department of Veterans Affairs, General Shinseki has been unable to solve other fundamental problems that plague the agency.”

Replace Shineki with we and you go home. Now Scott Brown is a serious candidate and Franken is in trouble. The war mongers and political snakes never missed an opportunity to play politics with an issue, for their purposes. All the right ingredients here to make mischief and money.

So far, the only “plan” is calling for the VA to be privatized. That’s the plan. Privatize it and call it good. Talk about jumping out of the pan right into the fire!!

Hmmmm . . .

The last time I checked the leading Republican challenger Julie Ortman was fifteen (15%) percentage points behind Franken.

They act like this mess started under this Administration. None of them gave a shit before or call for the resignation of others prior to this. Grow some balls already.

There is more to this than meets the eye. All of a sudden Franken has gone from a petition for every cause on earth, to acting crazy like Norm Coleman. The chicken hawks and fundamentalists are massing to the right of Obama.
