A truly moral victory.

“Years before running for Senate, Jones made a name for himself prosecuting two KKK members for the bombing of Birmingham’s 16th Street Baptist Church, a brutal crime that killed four black girls in 1963.”

No wonder Moore, Trump, and Bannon don’t like this man.

I anticipate a vote or two with the repugs by Jones, despite his liberal credentials. I will not complain: Doug Jones sent two murdering Klan motherfuckers to prison, and in my eyes he can do no wrong.

Oh, I’m sure he’ll disappoint at some point. But I’ll just remind myself at that point that it coulda been Roy Moore.

Give thanks for truly the Checkered Demon has turned his face to us with comity. Meanwhile, back at the church, Moore continues the comedy.

Jones worked hard to win…he showed up at small meetings w/ fewer than 10 people, as well as at larger events. He campaigned all the time. And it’s my impression that he listened to people…what issues concern them.
It’s also my impression that other groups, like the ACLU, the NAACP (and their legal arm) and local Dem groups also gave critical support in registering people, getting them to the polls and making sure they were able to vote.
I read that NAACP’s legal team is following up on issues that arose to make sure they don’t happen again.
I don’t know how much Tom Perez’ DNC were involved or if it was more behind the scenes…anyone know? (I hope so)

I am enormously relieved…happy for AL and for our country. Happy for Roy Moore’s victims…they WERE heard and believed. And grateful to all who helped make it happen.
Know Hope.

Now that people of color have witnessed their power - not only in electing our first black president but in electing Jones in crimson red Alabama, my hope is they will use their very real power to work to elect others throughout the South. We have a great candidate for governor here in Georgia, Stacy Abrams, a smart, articulate, hard-working black woman with ample experience in governing. The Republicans running against her are mostly dumb as bedposts, pretending to be hicks. I hope the choice will be obvious to voters and a massive turn out by the young, the educated and people of color will give her the governorship.

The man who won the governorship in Virginia used the same strategy. Low key, lots of listening to small groups, talking about local issues. After the high drama of Trump, quiet competence does seem remarkably precious.

Richard Shelby, any chance of you switching back to being a Democrat? If not, please consider retiring and endorsing a Democrat to take your seat. You were first elected to your Senate seat as a Democrat, then you switched parties in 1994.

Shelby is 83.
His term is up in 2022.
He’ll be retiring then.

Does Jones go straight to the Senate ? Like this week or next? Or must he wait til sometime early 2018?

Here’s a fifth thing to know about Jones, his middle name is Terminator.

Methinks the Repubs missed that :sunglasses:
