So? DāAmato knew a Democrat would win, but did not want Quinn or DeBalsio, knowing they did not have what it takes, so he backed Thompson, the sane one. So? Turns out he was correct.
Obama had Republicans in his CABINET, including one that was the Secretary of Defense, a HUGE appointment. So that makes Obama a Republican. You are just being silly now.
No, here are the numbers from the link:
Non-Seven Major Felonies
2010-59,387
2011-57240
2012-56902
2013-57650
2014-56869
The numbers have stayed the same since the previous 4 years under Bloomberg
Seven Major Felonies
2010-105,115
2011-106,669
2012-111,147
2013-111,335
2014-106,722
Again, numbers virtually the same. The 2 lowest years were actually under Bloomberg, but thatās not relevant, minor fluctuations have no significance. The point is that they are the same. So since DeBlasio has been in office, itās the same. So his policies have not been shown to reduce crime, though it can also be argued they have not increased crime. But we have only had 1 year of his stats. Letās see what 2015 and 2016 bring. Right now 2015 number through quarter 3 (all that is shown) indicate the same numbers again.
Hmmm, look at this. Violation offenses (disorderly conduct, trespassing and pot possession) went UP as soon as DeBlasio took office.
I agree. Nor DeBlasio. You are now giving DeBlasio credit for the crime drop that happened under Bloomberg? Thatās funny. And once again, the article you linked said a huge part of that drop years ago was keeping more people incarcerated. I donāt necessarily agree with that, but it was cited in your link. I personally think we need to bust less people for minor stuff (and that has been UP under DeBlasio), and keep the real violent criminals in prison. Like these four low lifeās. These people will never be rehabilitated. They are just punks. Ask anyone in that neighborhood.
And if you canāt have a debate without resorting to childish and sophomoric name calling (usually used by people who see their argument getting ripped to shreds), donāt bother. I wonāt respond. Stick to facts and act like an adult please.
I agree that our brain chemistry is our āpersonā but I donāt think we are in control of our brain chemistry, and hereās why.
I saw my wife of 14 years have her person changed drastically due to postpartum chemistry changes to the point of needing hospitalization to prevent her from harming herself or others. If you think that was who she was, that she had some control of it, could realize her actions were out of whack and then change her mind back to normal on her own I think youāre sadly mistaken. And I hope you or no one you are close to ever has to go through that, because you may be sadly disappointed in your or their āpersonā being able to put yourselves back to normal on your own and not do anything that harms you, people you love, or people you donāt know.
And as far as these kids, if you or I had grown up in their environment, Iām willing to bet even if our brain chemistry is different, maybe even ābetterā, than theirs, that our āpersonā might be quite different than it is now.
Thanks for your note. I hope your wife is better now.
Post-partum depression can be a terrible thing. You are not in control of your brain chemistry, although you can modify it slightly - the use of anti-depressant medication has some effect on brain chemicals. And yes, the chemical makeup changed without her wishes. We know that the process of having a baby changes much of the chemical makeup.
Seeing a physician can help. Taking some medication can help. My many years of psychiatric research, including years studying schizophrenia (I am the statistician on many psychiatric papers), has led me to the belief that the effects of medication are limited, however.
She was diagnosed as bipolar, sees a pharmacist, and takes medication, but truthfully I think it was mostly post partum. She pretty much has no mood swings and has never had a relapse. What she mostly has is a fear of ever having a relapse into that mindset.
But seeing it happen it just made me feel like none of us is in nearly as much control of who we are and what we do as we think we are. So I not only have a lot of hope that criminals like this can one day be treated to change their behavior, I hope the same for republicansā¦ha ha ha.
Wrong again. I am disputing your claim that De Blasio is guilty of doing nothing while allowing fear to pervade rough neighborhoods. That was your claim: āAnd I see black people who live in fear in their own neighborhoods. And Mayor DeBlasio has been no help at all.ā That is horseshit, and thatās the substance of my rebuke.
