Just out of a sense of morbid curiosity, I wonder how many of those kicked off medicare actually voted for the Orange Shitstain?

" The Arkansas Department of Human Services on Wednesday said another 5,000 people on the program will lose coverage if they don’t meet the work requirement by the end of this month."

“All them quadriplegics and chemo kids need to get off their duffs and start working like the rest of us!”

(“Now where’d I put my Medicare check?”)

Thing is, no one really had to enact this work requirement. It was a wish among some to do just this one thing, to save money.

Never mind that people who lose coverage will go to emergency rooms for healthcare after a little problem becomes an overwhelming one.

It may be harder for them to do that if they are rural.

So assuming those pending 5,000 people do lose coverage, that’s a 15% reduction in the medicaid coverage rolls where the new requirement is in force.

I’d say if you’re looking for a way to save money, yet still not come out ahead, AND simultaneously cause broad misery among the population, this is a recipe for all sorts of winning!

There are two things about being very sick that are fun:

1 )staying on the phone with insurance companies for hours trying to get permission for medical care
2) taking part-time work in low-paying jobs while your sick so you can get the medicine you need

buncha whiney crybabies, republicans know how easy sick people have it

Yup. They make me sick just thinking about it.

So much winning, Arkansas. You must be so tired of all the winning.

Anyone happen to know what the criteria for removal were?

I could see a court case in the offing depending on how these souls were determined to no longer be eligible.

True.

Another kick in the face is that Arkansas has a very low ratio of people with internet connectivity in the U.S. The disparity is especially stark among the social and economic demographic affected through this change.

The fuckery perpetrated upon these people involves how they report their work requirement hours. The internet is the chief vehicle. The web portal to report hours is operational only 14 hours per day.

The combination of being a rural resident and without internet service royally screws many.

Whether their skin had a pinkish hue? Whether they wore MAGAt hats? Country Club membership?

This is what Rethugs in MIchigan want to do and if they continue to hold the Governorship it’ll be the first thing on their to-do list. I believe its set to begin in Jan. 2020 unless we change politicians here in the state and have Dems block it at the state level…though there may be an intervening court decision in the meantime. Right now there’s no law to do it in the state, just the ability to allow the Feds to require it of Michiganders upon request from the Rethugs that hold the majority in our state legislature.

These Rethugs are all heartless, callous pieces of shit. They got theirs. That’s all that matters. They have no thought as to what creating ill health for the state’s citizens will accomplish, but its in their DNA to hate the poor, the old and sick people any way they can. Makes no fucking sense…and no one can explain why this is a good thing if they tried…because its not.

…and emergency room care is the most costly medical delivery system. The cost of this uncompensated will be passed on the those who pay their bills, usually with insurance. Insurance premiums will increase to cover these cost and the Trumpets will blame Obamacare.

Plus, most of the people who’ve actually studied the issue have pointed out that monitoring work requirements is more expensive on its own. There’s no way they are saving money, even on paper, with this nonsense.
