It just never ends with these people. But hopefully they hit a huge bump in the road in November 2018. In my purple neighborhood, there are a lot of Dem signs for the election next month. Here’s hoping it’s an indicator of things to come.
Yeah, hoping we have a big enough wave to overcome that stuff.
Raw sewage stinks. Hiring a firm with two full time employees to do major work in disaster relief to restore energy = more than stinks. Costs more - highly inefficient as the company has no track record - and shows complete lack of concern/seriousness to the dire needs on the ground in Puerto Rico. I hope this story stays in the light for quite some time. This decision is horrendous - and the needs in Puerto Rico are tremendous.
So even the Weather Channel is getting into muckraking journalism these days! Granted, there is a lot of muck to be raked.
Great news, this mean that we will be able to get Zinke in jail. Speaking of Zinke, an ex-seal, weren’t those guys supposed to be patriotic?
They’re saving the major stuff for the supposed Public/Private partnership. With any luck that’ll be scuttled and they’ll have to solve things legitimately.
The delay stinks, tho.
“… a two-year-old company that reportedly had two full-time employees when the hurricane first hit, was first reported by the Weather Channel last week.”
I would be willing to place money down that neither of these two (2) people spend more than one week’s worth of time on the island and end up billing the US government more than was initially contracted for.
I’m guessing overhead charges will be somewhere in the range of 300-400%.
Grifters gotta Grift
Well, to be fair, this kind of crap is exactly why Trump ran.
You think Dubya exemplified crony capitalism? Watch Trump’s drive!
Just draining the swamp, nuttin to see here, move along.
Expect lawsuits.
From the Denver Post: http://www.denverpost.com/2017/10/24/whitefish-energy-puerto-rico-hurricane-recovery/
RossellĂł said Wednesday that the island would spend $490 million on
the initial phase of repairing the commonwealth’s grid, adding that “a
large portion of that would probably go to Whitefish” and another
contractor. The utility gave Whitefish a $3.7 million initial payment
for “mobilization of personnel and equipment,” the contract says.
Whitefish could be paid as much as $300 million for up to two years of
work.
Under the contract, the hourly rate was set at $330 for a site
supervisor, and at $227.88 for a “journeyman lineman.” The cost for
subcontractors, which make up the bulk of Whitefish’s workforce, is $462
per hour for a supervisor and $319.04 for a lineman. Whitefish also
charges nightly accommodation fees of $332 per worker and almost $80 per
day for food.
Does anyone know if these hourly rates sound right?
Maybe Zinke will oversee the pillage from up high on his horse, white master style. So manly … I’m all aflutter.
C’mon folks, Montana is exactly like Puerto Rico, so WhiteGuy Utilities will be able to hit the ground running.
Well played, El Presidente…
Teapot Dome, Puerto Rico style.
Teapot Dome cosplay. Every day it gets harder and harder not to call for the guillotines.
