Do those states realize there are plenty of openly serving gay and lesbian military troops who have marrired in other states then get ORDERED to serve in those backwards, bigoted states where they deny their marriages? I’m sure those bigots have “We support the troops!” bumper stickers plastered all over their vehicles. They need to stop claiming they are so patriotic since they put their bigotry before patriotism.

Their rationale is simple. Marriage is all about reproduction. If they can stop homosexuals from marrying they can stop them from reproducing. Of course, marriage isn’t about reproduction. It is a legal contract that gives people certain rights with respect to one another and with respect to the state. Marriage is not necessary for reproduction. Ask Bristol Palin – ask and then duck.

Every state official who acts in defiance of the court rulings should be charged with contempt, jailed, and fined for every day that they persist in failing to perform the lawful duties of their office. The Circuit Courts of Appeals have ruled, and the Supreme Court has decided not to review those rulings. That means they are the “law of the land” within the states within those Circuits. Therefor, these officials are openly violating the law. Charge them, fine them, and then jail them. They deserve it.

Officiclas in the three states that are still refusing to issue marriage licences to same-sex couples in defiance of federal court rulings should be cited and prosecuted for contempt of court – period. NO ONE is above the Supreme Law of the Land, which is the Constitution of the United States that they are bound by their oath of office top uphold and support – and, by extention, OBEY.
Oh good, now they get to have their George Wallace moment, just before history sweeps them under the rug.
