Discussion: 2nd Convict In Custody After 'Cool Hand Luke Meets Shawshank' Prison Escape

Discussion for article #237986

I hate this photo. Guy is s convicted murderer, but it looks like hunters after they’ve bagged a deer.

Exactly. That was my first thought.

That said, at least they look a little surprised they were being photographed.

Sweat had a bag containing maps, tools, bug repellent and Pop Tarts

Pop Tarts, bug repellent?

Essential items for today’s properly accessorized escapee.

I think it’s a great photo. This pursuit cost $1mil per day for these thugs. I’d have liked it if they took that “Have a Nice Day” sticker they left for the guards, and stuck it on his forehead for the shot. F**k this a-hole, I’m glad they “bagged” him. And I don’t care if he was unarmed either.

Cool Hand Luke cut down parking meters. In Shawshank, the guy was wrongfully convicted. These a-holes were brutal murderers. Good riddance.

Did they visit a store for these things or just rip off the contents of a cabin?
And how’d he acquire that camouflage clothing?

As a certain person likes to say let’s wait for the facts to come out and not lend ourselves to false speculation.

That would be naughty wouldn’t it?

I hope the family who’s prized antique shotgun was stolen get their fowling equipment back. Three decades ago my Dad’s gun collection was stolen by some punks in our small village. We got most everything back eventually except for one 20 gauge model 21 Winchester double barrel that my dad gave me when I turned 16. That shotgun has become a collector’s item.

I’d be interested in knowing how no guards at the prison apparently heard the power tools buzzing all those days it must have taken to make their holes. I don’t know of any power tool “silencers.”

I’m assuming they’ll never recover the cost of the manhunt. Joyce Mitchell doesn’t look like she is worth the millions to repay the state. Now there will also be the cost of her trial and incarceration. Wouldn’t a divorce have been less costly?

I keep remembering how her poor son did interviews to defend his wonderful mother on day one, when it started being mentioned that she might be involved. Pretty sad reality, for him.

“Authorities also said Mitchell had discussed killing her husband as part of the plot.”

I sense divorce proceedings in the near future.

A convicted murderer escapes, is possibly armed and dangerous, he is shot upon his capture, he lives… Black man goes to Wal-Mart to legally buy a rifle, he calmly walks around shopping in a non violent, non threatening manner. Police shows up after a ‘‘concern citizen’’ calls in. He is shot by the police…he dies.

Prisons are extremely noisy, lots of yelling , radios blasting, etc. Plus the construction uses materials like masonry, concrete and steel, which make things even noisier (no carpet or ceiling tiles to absorb sound). Plus there were construction projects at the prison happening simultaneously. Not too hard to believe. The whole in the pipe using a hand grinder could go pretty quick. And the hole in the masonry they went through was far from their cells, that could easily be mistaken for noise at the construction areas. And they were in a very cozy part of the jail due to good behavior.

Based on the remoteness of their escape path, plus the large amount of cabins in the area, a store is less likely, though possible. My guess would be a cabin though.

I’d like to know how long they waited before they realized she was not coming. If that was their only plan once out, they may have waited a while thinking she was running late. Not sure if they had access to cell phones either. But it’s mind boggling they did not have a Plan B once in the street.

Pop tarts are likely a reference to Brittany, Madonna, et al., and bug repellent is typically used to confuse tracking dogs, and we know this for sure, and it is a known fact, not opinion, and it’s likely the case. But until the final report comes out and I have a chance to read it, we should play it safe and fully assume otherwise. It’s likely that the facts, when they come out, will speak for themselves, regardless of what the kids believe.

Those darned kids!

There are many seasonal/hunting camps throughout the region they traversed. Apparently many of them are stocked year-round with packaged/canned foods, bottled water, clothing (camo included), tools, terrain maps, and even weapons/ammo! I guess campers/hunters don’t like to tote such stuff with them when they go to camp.

…and if you are lucky some good brandy too…

Sort of a glorified car camping?? Prestocked cabins. …convenient for your escaped bad guy I guess. But who would’ve known? One cannot anticipate such things. Glad the bad guys were dealt with and that no police were injured.

ROTFLMAO!

Is it really stalking when one can find multiple posts on any topic of interest to McGruff the crime dawg? It likely is unless the facts show otherwise which one can assume they probably might regardless of what those darn kids will likely say.

Whatever could you be talking about?

Sometimes I really do not know that of which I speak. I’ll likely finger it out later when the damned reports are released.

Or probably not.

Maybe.

But it’s likely,
