Discussion: 21-Year-Old Man Charged In WI Teen Kidnapping And Murder Of Her Parents

The area in question is heavily wooded or agricultural. There is a also lot of recreational property and many people close down their cabins for the winter and aren’t there for months. The idea of neighbors in this context is relative. If I went to my cabin and didn’t want to be be found for awhile I could pull that off pretty easily.

Exactly my thought.

We have a house near Ripon/Fond du Lac. We know how isolated it can get above 90/94. And that little town of 680 is probably not filled with nosy people. In winter, who goes out much anyway?

Gordon is at the northern edge of cabin country in Northwest WI. It is very remote, the kind of place that’s an hour drive to a hospital or grocery store. Besides logging, tourism is the other big industry, meaning the population basically halves after Labor Day.

Definitely a good place to keep a kidnapping victim if you’re a sadistic effing creep.

Jake Thomas Patterson was taken into custody

Wow. Not too many undocumented immigrants are named Jake.

She’s thirteen. Your description of her in these terms is revolting.

It takes me 3 hours to get to Madison, 4 to Minneapolis, and 5+ to Chicago. It does get a bit isolated up here.

Thanks. You beat me to it.

KMA, honkey. The reason these girls are taken is that sick fucks think they are seductive. We need to clearly discuss the issues. I don’t go with social media bullies like you telling me what is and what is not acceptable. It’s the truth.

In Canada, they call this kind of area “cottage country”. Many summer homes not occupied during the winter. A lot of people don’t get out much these days period. When we visit our house near Fond du Lac, we have neighbors who we are on good terms with. We never see them outside the house.

OK why don’t we clearly discuss why you think this 13-year-old girl looks coy and seductive? Are you one of these “sick fucks”? And as for social media bullies, I’m not the one getting flagged for juvenile name calling.

He said it twice.

Was it “fake” news (which implies an intent to spread incorrect facts) or just a report that ended up being wrong and then updated by the news outlet.

Either we can be girl scouts and say that it’s absolutely unknowable why this girl was taken OR we can tell the truth and say that she was taken because someone found her pictures alluring.

Since you’re a girl scout, why do you think she was taken? To play scrabble?

In the real world, that we all live in, stuff happens that is unpleasant to think about. Soldiers rape civilians. American soldiers raped French civilians. Soviet soldiers raped polish civilians. Polish soldiers raped german civilians. We can pretend that soldiers are heroes, but rapes happen. We can pretend that 13 YOs are not desired by some, but that’s a false belief.

Before I get around to knocking down your various strawmen, I’d like an answer to my question. You said above and I quote, ”She’s cute in her pictures, and looks kind of coy and seductive.” Then you said, “sick fucks think they are seductive.“

So again, why do you think this thirteen year old girl is seductive? I think you already provided the answer.

When you want to discuss the real world, let me know. I won’t respond to your lack of reality and deliberate misunderstandings of my statement. I also don’t go with bullying, so fuck off jack.

I’d bet next week’s paycheck that we’re going to find out he was active on the incel groups.

I watched the WI people doing their press conference and couldn’t help cringing a little at the self-congratulatory we’re-a-strong-community stuff. I mean, I’m sure it’s true, and they did go out of their way to mention the help they got from the FBI and from other national agencies … BUT it came off as a sort of see-how-much-God-loves-us approach.

There are, sadly, a lot of kids who go missing aren’t found, or are found dead. Their families loved them just as much, and their communities tried just as hard.

I just think there should be a way to speak of success in these cases that doesn’t imply special favor from heaven or unusual forbearance from neighbors.

And, I"m with whoever said the use of “fake news” was jarring in the context of this press conference. The association with Trump’s constant attacks on media was out of place.

I’m puzzled here, apparently it was premeditated, the guy with no criminal record drove 70 miles, shot the parents he didn’t knew and abducted the girl. How did he knew the girl even existed? Why did he get obsessed with her? Had she been communicating with him? Not trying to blame victims here, but there may be lessons here to be learned.

I wonder if we will ever know. He might have hung around schools looking for girls. But my bet is that some kind of social media link will be found. A person can pretend to be anyone on social media, and this guy might have trolled certain websites.

I agree that lessons may be out there. But as we learned with Elizabeth Smart, there are crazy guys who have perverse interests in young women. He was, if I remember right, entirely unknown to the Smart family, and snuck in after dark to take her. Who could stop that?

Jesus fucking Christ, she’s barely a teenage. God, you’re a revolted piece of shit.
