because we care about our citizens and by god we canā€™t drive up labor costs or businesses will FLEE our stateā€¦

if the workers need more money let them get a 2nd job or put the kids to work and teach them the value of honest labor and hard workā€¦

No, they wonā€™t. Lawyers, doctors and other white collar, highly educated professionals are typically exempt from overtime.

Isnā€™t that partly what this is about adjusting those white collar professional exemptions? Of course most lawyers and doctors are probably making more than the new minimum for exemption, which I think is in the $47,000 range.

What, no more ā€œCongratulations, youā€™re a ā€˜supervisorā€™ and have to do more work. And hereā€™s your pay cut.ā€?
