Discussion: 2020 Dems Play Nice With Each Other, No Sign Yet Of Ugly Primary

The report the controversy/sell the horse race strategy seems to have hit a couple speed bumps. How will MSM attract advertisers? How will the economy survive?

Yeah, I think each and every Democrat in the race knows that, once they get ugly, they’re out. It won’t be tolerated for a second this time around. Play nice or go home with zero delegates.

The media loves to ask questions that they think will stir things up -to shed more heat than light - when it would be much more fruitful if they would ask each candidate tough but fair questions on their personal positions on the various issues.

Good for Democrats to not fall for it because it would play into the media’s preconceived “Democrats are divided” canard.

But they are going to need to find ways to draw legitimate contrasts, without sounding nasty about it. It is going to be a challenge to thread that needle.

That’s true, and that’s where the debates come into play. I’d rather each candidate articulate and defend their ideas organically versus the others, than have the media try to gin up a conflict.

But the media will try (indeed already is trying). They just cannot help themselves.

Sanders may not be bad mouthing anyone but some of his supporters are. It can get really ugly on social media.

I’m glad to see this. As much as i hated the slogan that neo-cons used to take us into the Iraq War, it fits much better here. United We Stand. The Democratic Party stands united to remove the disease of Dotard T rumpp from the White House.

The MSM will try to gin up controversy by asking the candidates to choose between impeachment and prison.

That tendency in his last campaign is costing him bigly this time around.

Hmmm, impeachment versus prison.

How about we do both?

OT, but for those following TPM’s reporting on the NRA - the Washington Post has picked up on the story - and their article also includes a list of board members that have also been doing business with the NRA at the same time.

Ahhh, the media trying really hard to generate ratings by drumming up division.

Maybe Tulsi Gabbard is actually running for the VP slot. She’s a lot better than Pence.

“Is there any room in the Democratic party now for those who oppose abortion?” asked Stephanopoulos.

So tired of this lazy pundit narrative and its dishonest framing.

Whether or not a given candidate might “oppose abortion” isn’t the point.

What matters is whether they support a woman’s right to choose for herself.

And whether they’ll fight to keep her rights legal, safe, and affordable.

Stephanopoulos is trolling.

I’ll just drop this factoid from polling as reported by Nate Cohn as to who who actually supports and who opposes abortion. I wouldn’t expect George S. to know this. It happened outside the ABC studio where he seems to live.

40 percent of Democrats say they oppose legal abortion if the woman wants one for any reason; 29 percent of Republicans say they support legal abortion if the woman wants one for any reason, according to the General Social Survey, a highly regarded survey that has asked Americans about their views for decades.

Read another way, 29 percent of Republicans are cheating on their wives and want an ‘out’.

ETA: the other 71% are cheating but are either infertile or don’t care.

What makes you think these were male respondents? The survey broke down the responses into every imaginable category except gender including education, race, religion, etc.
