Note also that the “flag” in the logo is upside-down.
I for one never believed in “the emerging Democratic majority” theory. The Pukes can delay that emerging majority for quite a while through the exercise of Juan Crow laws, as we’ve already seen. They can delay it even longer if they’re willing to turn America into an apartheid state, which frankly, I think most of them want.
For what it’s worth, Susanna Martinez is a LatinA not Latino…Just sayin’. But, please, if there is a God anywhere, pray for her to be on the Reactionary ticket - And get her the hell out of Santa Fe
Indeed! I also see it has only a “Lone” star, like Texas.
“They can delay it even longer”… if enough Democrats who are not prevented from voting fail to do so anyway.
Yeah, the Cubano community is a huge outlier for the Hispanic vote. They traditionally vote waaaaay more Republican. Also, as you mention, Latin American voters, as a group, resent the whole dry foot policy that gives Cuban refugees legal status as soon as they set foot on American soil. It’s a long standing sore spot, and you can bet Latin American Hispanics are resentful of how both Rubio and Cruz’s family got to be Americans.
The really tragic thing about this is that the 1976 Republican Party (or the 1956 one) was not like this one. It was not all or nothing. The spirit of inter-party competition was not 100% versus 0%. (thanks, Newt Gingrich)
Topping off the tragedy are the fossils voting Republican who know all of the above and should have perspective, but do not.
You hit the nail on the head. I grew up watching all these changes. Yes indeed there was a whole group of Republicans who cared more about how this country did even though they had differing political ideas. Margaret Chase Smith, Edward Brooke, Everett Dirksen, Jacob Javits, Charles Percy, Clifford Case, etc., the likes of these you will never see in the GOP again.
Because the all or nothing mentality is so deeply ingrained, there is no chance for a resurgence to what the GOP used to look like. It has gone forever.
At ‘FACE VALUE’ is superficial and insulting to the intelligence of the Latino VOTER. …This notion is as bad as Mia Love as the Republican Party’s poster child for the black and women voter,
