Discussion: 2014: The Year When Republicans Run Away From Obamacare Repeal

Discussion for article #229283

“most notably the Medicaid expansion.”

…because this benefits most notably their own reliable voters… that aging demographic is all they have remaining and without it, the Republican dinosaur becomes extinct.

Republicans are craven liars. The War on Education has been so successful that the sheep are voting for mad cow disease.

"Ernst has repeatedly called for repealing Obamacare, but she has also said Congress must “protect those that are on Medicaid now.”

it is always convenient to have two sides of one mouth to speak from…

“Ironically, the governor found himself defending the single-payer component of Obamacare while objecting to the coverage expansion on the private insurance market.”

That’s it! We convince them that single-payer will defeat the evil Obamacare!

Yes, we’re vehemently against beer. But if you individual states want to pitch some yeast into a vat of barley, malt and hops, go right ahead.

Well their own Ryan budget blueprint forces Republicans to run away from arithmetic every year. The House can’t even be troubled to vote on a budget that would make the necessary cuts to meet their own “targets.”

In Michigan, Terry Lynn Land, who is almost a sure bet to lose her election for the Senate against Gary Peters, has a commercial still out which includes getting rid of Obamacare “once and for all” through her single-handed determination to have it repealed. Oh yeah…and she’ll “make sure of it” too. No telling the public ‘how’ though.

She also won’t debate her opponent Gary Peters or give interviews to the press. So I guess no one gave her the new polished turd of a talking point, where she can claim two diametrically opposed views at the same time like the rest of her party. Basically, she hasn’t found a way to snooker her supporters from of her own bullshit, and doesn’t want the press to call her out on it in an interview. So there’s one down…I hope.

So, let’s repeal Obamacare, but keep Medicaid expansion. OK, but what about those who make too much for even expanded Medicaid, but still not enough to buy private insurance? Well, maybe they could buy into Medicaid with payments on a sliding scale based on income.

Medicaid for all!

Fred Upton, a long time conservative congresscritter in W. Mi. is running on repeal of Obamacare, but his ad is full of double-speak about keeping those with pre-existing conditions, being able to stay on your parents insurance, and all the other goodies that Obamacare provides. He never bothers to explain how he and his wingnut brethren plan to accomplish this Herculean task when they get re-elected. Sadly, in some parts of the country, no one bothers to ask them that either…You see this everywhere. The press here has truly fallen down on the job and spent years allowing these politicians to get away with not being held accountable for what comes out of their mouths…

We know why Republicans are talking out of both sides of their mouth when it comes to this! It’s because Wall Street LOVES ACA! It puts more money in the pockets of the pimps who run the insurance rackets and the stockholders love those bigger dividend checks!

Republicans love to BS about how churches will help the needy.

I’ll believe that when Joel O$teen sells his $10 million dollar mansion and uses that money to provide health care to those who cannot afford it…

Which makes the Republican position doubly strange, since they are defending the Medicaid part, which insurance companies don’t even participate in and trashing the part that makes money.

Grand Old Pricks running for office: “Ahh’ support our state Medicaid expansion for our dear seniors because ahh’ am a compassionate conservative…but I will work to pull out Obummerkeer’ by the roots and git’ that BigGummit’ outta’ our lives. Vote for me!” ___and the old Baggers {{{{cheer wildly!}}}}

And in that nugget is the reason the Republicans COUNT on the ignorance and gullibility of their odious “base” and try mightily to keep that sheeple base uneducated and angry.

The Republicans haven’t had a clear win since George Peabrain Bush and they absolutely will not talk about him or their “achievements” with him.

Mythical Reagan is still all they’ve got and he was brain diseased and functioning through a snake charmer

Negligent media and voters with no attention span.

Certianly if GOTPers were bald-faced lying, the media would report on it. But since the media isn’t reporting on it, clearly they aren’t lying.

Step One: Buy the media
Step Two: Whatever the hell you want

“…they’re making a logically strained implication…”

Wow, this is really going to repel all those voters with postgraduate degrees.

Democrats carpe diem! Go after the rat bastards with full bore “GOPers were against ‘Obamacare’ until they were for it.”

Can’t do that. Republicans might complain. Then the president of MSNBC will have to spend all his time apologizing.

Republicans can solve this problem very simply by enacting a law that changes the name of the Affordable Care Act to the Ronald Reagan Health Care Act along with a lot of meaningless gobbledygook about how bad the Democrats’ bill was when it was called Obamacare and perhaps a civil fine imposed on citizens for mentioning Obamacare and a criminal penalty if a government official says the name Obama without cursing it!
