This situation is going to get MUCH worse than it is now and not because kyra27 was asleep at the wheel. If you’re here on this website, I have no doubt that you are fighting the good fight. BUT - it’s gonna take more than just you being more productive about it. It’s literally going to take an entire generation of young women who will wake up one day and find out that they have no choice in their reproductive lives nor do they have any support system to help them. None. That’s the point at which babies don’t look quite so cute anymore.

Think about all the long term strategizing, money, and total committment that the right wing religious loons have marshalled in their attempt to control women’s bodies. Now imagine all those resources used toward something else, like ending poverty.
I can promise you that if they had done so, it would have been more effective at reducing abortions, creating healthier mothers, and increasing the number of practicing Christians than the legislative holy war that they’ve been waging against women for the last four decades.

“Some” people against abortion are really against abortion, mostly it’s about control. You control the women and then you command those women to control the men they are with. One big happy conservative happily obey the untaxed handed down ruling class elites. The rich elites misbehave and they risk being cast down to the unwashed masses
Alas the mud flinging and pot stirring is not some accidental by product. They know that the more politicians behave like spoiled children women are more likely to say “thank you very much I have enough of that crap in my life already”.
Whether it’s abortion rights, or rolling back taxes on the job creators (peace and blessing be upon them). All this is happening within an un-intelligent design and a plan. While liberals take life day by day and sorta adapt, conservatives set out on a course 60 years ago and no form of reality will change them from that course
Abortion access at large did not exist when they hatched their post WW II plan and so they are going to put that back. The plan that keeps a tiny slice of a minority of the population controlling the vast majority is not an easy one but they are committed to it
The ultimate guilt trip this side of your death bed. I am still not sure why they choose to run it, other than the obvious control issues. Certainly, they don’t give a flying fuck once a child is born, so I am not sure this issue is really gonna do it for them. Moths to flame.
Then we need to have some very brave doctors (like George Tiller) who are willing to act now to save women and their families from the horror shows of dangerous births and babies born only to die in excruciating ways.
As long as there are still practitioners who know their duty is to their women patients and not to their state legislators, we can keep fighting this cabal of woman shamers and their opportunistic fellow travelers like Lindsay Graham.
There are still a few, and they’re truly extraordinary, courageous people. But abortion services in general are becoming ever harder to access in ever more parts of the country; and women who need late abortions already must travel up to a thousand miles or more to one of those extraordinary, courageous doctors. The idea of a 20-week ban is popular because people picture a fully formed, plump, heathy baby; they need to be made aware that in the overwhelming majority of late abortions, that’s tragically far from the case.
