I had something snarky queued up, but …no. This story is simply sad and tragic.
Like two weeks ago, TPM. It’s tragic all around, but it’s not new.
I’m going to speculate some sort of postpartum depression at work and that will be the defense but the jury is going to give her life.
More like month-old news. Odd to see it here today on TPM.
Post partum depression doesn’t cause this. This is likely the result of post partum psychosis. I’m not trying to be picky, but working to understand such a problem has to start with identifying it correctly.
An earlier story points out that the parents were separated and intending to divorce.
I am similarly speculating, of course, but here is a woman living in a foreign country and culture with no local social support systems who feels she cannot deal with the responsibilities of mothering two very young children and who sees everything around her collapsing.

Not everyone agrees that postpartum depression can’t possibly lead to murder…From Wikipedia
In the United States, postpartum depression is one of the leading causes of the murder of children less than one year of age which occurs in about 8 per 100,000 births.[7][8]
None-the-less, I doubt the distinction will change the outcome of this case. She’s going to get life or close to it.
Uh…it’s Texas. They’re “pro-life” down there. That means lethal injection, preferably as often as possible.
Well…I guess TO THE GOOGLE MACHINE. I mean, what IS this?

Uh (doesn’t that just make everything that follows seem smarter?)… I’m IN Texas.
Female, crazy, white… no, she won’t get the death penalty.
First, that’s Wikipedia. It is, within the medical community, understood that there is a distinct difference between post-partum depression and post-partum psychosis.
In general, depressive personalities aren’t walking around killing others, they tend to internalize that behavior if acted upon.
First… The Wikipedia article cites medical literature. Read it. You’ll see.

Second… Do you know what “in general” means? It means usually but not always. If I take you at your word, you’re saying that some of the depressives ARE walking around killing others.
I’m saying in general because depressives can also have other issues that can impact violent tendencies. It’s not ever going to be a black and white issue. Typically depression is not an outwardly focused problem.
Great. I’d rather go with the National Institute of Health in stead of a randomly selected article for a Wikipedia page. Also, maybe I’ll rely on my own family’s experience with this issue and the doctors assigned to treat it.
