Lots of Repubs bailed after it was impossible to deny what Bush had done but they still vote Republican and they still sit back and watch as the Republican Party turns into a freak show that hurts America without speaking up.
The Independent Party is a hydra of sorts. They have left leaning and right leaning members that aren’t really Independents and there are a few truly uncommitted that just can’t make up their minds. Basically, it’s somewhere to hide when you can’t admit what you really are.

Guys, there is a lot of cynicism here. Just the act of saying they are Indys is enough to have them burned as heretics by the far right.

I think it matters because Hackensack is part of Bergen County, one of the solidly Republican counties in northern NJ.
Their population is largely Hispanic and Minority based. For this two, it makes a difference.

I think you’re right The “Independent” Party is, predominately, disaffected Rethugs. I don’t necessarily think that the’ll be switching again after Rump is decimated in the polls (tho I could be wrong).
What we’re seeing now is all that’s left of the GOP. This is it, the bottom of the barrel. For some Rethugs like these two, they don’t necessarily have a choice if they want to remain in political life because they won’t get re elected. If your constituency is made up of minoirty voters, how can you go along with he vitriol?
I for one love seeing them peel off and maybe they will be back to their party and maybe they wont but I like they have at least stood up to be counted against this scum bag Trump and the party that has no scruples whatsoever,

The “drip, drip, drip” is becoming a trickle that may grow into a stream. Two of my own family members who were lifelong Republicans have now switched to unaffiliated because they can’t stand what the party has become.
