Who’s military plane?
No one seems to know, or be willing to admit, whose plane it was. The unspoken assumption is Algerian.
BBC gives the death toll as “at least” 257.

FWIW – and no idea whether the reasons apply in this case – crashes on takeoff or landing of large aircraft carrying lots of troops are not unknown. Weight and balance calculations in particular can be done incorrectly.
Not good judgement, IMO, to run headline not identifying the plane as Algerian (if that’s what it was).
