Same thing they say about all of them, including shit like Sandy Hook and Aurora and Dylan Roof shooting up a famous black church in Charleston in hopes of starting the “race war” or an Army-of-God-worshipping religious freak who shoots up a PP:

Many of these illegal guns come from states with lax gun laws. The Vermont Pipeline is notorious for providing illegal guns to NYC and cities throughout the northeast in exchange for cheap heroin, thus leading to more gun violence and an epidemic of heroin addiction in Vermont.
Guns are easily available in Nevada and Arizona, just as they are in Vermont. And still, Bernie calls gun violence an “urban problem”. Either he’s criminally unaware of the falsity of that statement or he’s just a liar. Either way, innocent people die.

I knew someone would react that way. That’s not what I meant at all.
Good post, but there are many many lawmakers who need to go in the fall if Congress is to do its job to act in the public’s (not gunmakers and NRA’s) interest. Hopefully such a prospectively failed GOPer as Trump would result in huge Dem majorities down ticket as well.
What tragic stories like this fail to focus upon is Congress has blocked the research and law enforcement tools to trace how guns used in crimes get to the killers who use them. Policy cannot address a problem when policy makers are in the dark about the nature of the problem. We have an ATF that the gun and NRA lobby has rendered impotent. ATF was denied a director by the Senate for years. When it finally approved one he resigned because he tried and failed to ban armor piercing bullets. Armor piercing bullets! Think about it.
The best thing that could happen to America is if the GOP nominates for president someone so terrible that normal reasonable lawmakers gain control of Congress again. The president alone cannot address this without a Congress that is serious about its moral duty to set national policy. Immoral corporate greed that kills thousands of Americans every year has no place in public policy making.

How sad is it that I read the headline and fully expected the shooter was a cop. I was actually surprised as I read the article that it wasn’t a cop shooting another kid.

As the father of a 12yo boy, this story is especially heart breaking. Seems like only yesterday my son was asking me to ride his bike to the Tom Thumb for the first time. When I was 12, a trip to the local drug store resulted in strong arming at worst. Now with our country saturated with guns, 12yo’s taking simple trips in their neighborhoods results in death. This child really had no chance in life.
How does this boy’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness square with the 2nd amendment?

Why, Mom or Dad should have just texted them from work to get in the Mercedes and have the butler drive them to Whole Foods for their organic snacks, or ordered a UBER for them on their account.
Absolutely correct. And Sunday night is a school night. If you are 12, you should be in bed at that time, not going to a store by yourself. If this is normal behavior, there are serious problems in that community.
