Discussion: 11 Year Old Convicted Of Killing 8 Year Old Who Wouldn't Let Him See Her Puppies

Discussion for article #245632

Murder is bad, and all, but for crying out loud - SHE WOULDN’T LET HIM SEE THE PUPPIES.

Lines have to be drawn…and he’ll have plenty of time to do some drawing now.

Such a tragedy. Eleven year olds are not mature enough to have access to guns.

This boy is mature enough to go hunting with guns in Tenn. He was mature enough to serve time for his actions.

…any repercussions for the parents?

You’d assume there’ll be a civil suit that finds them liable and negligent, not that they’ll have any money to pay out. At least make them sell their guns.

@DNL
The boy has five siblings — three brothers and two sisters — who have been placed with relatives and the state, Johnson said.

He must have felt threatened…or does that only work if the victim is black?

This goes beyond possession of guns by an eleven year old. A child this age really should know right from wrong. Just basic human values. What on earth happened here with this kid? It doesn’t seem like he was in a state of high emotional agitation. In fact, it sounds like he did it in a matter of fact fashion. I’m glad the authorities have taken all the kids away.

Why the hell aren’t the parents of the child also being held responsible? In the end, they are just as much to blame as their child for this unnecessary death.

In other words, nothing meaningful. They should be in jail for accessory to murder, but that’ll never happen. In exchange for giving their child access to murder weapons, they’ll probably have to take a 4-hour firearms safety course or something.

So that after telling a judge, “See your Honor, we paid the price society demanded of us”, they’ll get their kids back. And train them better, so that next time one of their kids decides to shoot a neighbor, they’ll aim for the legs. Thus justice is served.

Or understand the full ramifications of using them on another human being. Terrible, terrible, terrible. What a sad story.

There is probably is no law for that. And sure as hell there won’t be. Remember we need to be able to kill the mailman if the government becomes tyrannical!

His parents should go to jail as accessories to murder.

Fucking insanity. =(

No 11 yr old should have access to gun however “well trained” he might be. Our cowardly congress isn’t willing to set some limits.

Some people are saying that the boy is a sociopath. I don’t know if that is true or not, but if the boy had impulse control problems or other behavior issues, that would be reason enough not to put a gun in his hands for hunting, IMO. A gun safety class might address how to handle a gun, but it isn’t enough to overcome behavior issue. Nevertheless, guns aren’t toys, and eleven year olds aren’t adults. Out of respect for what a gun can do, all guns should be locked up so that children can not get access to them. If a child goes hunting, it should be with adult supervision. A gun is a deadly weapon.
