Oh gee let’s not make them think about helping but how they can hurt the most people.

On the other hand, Republicans could return to regular order and actually negotiate viable fixes to the ACA with Democrats.

Nah, that would require an interest in sound public policy. And everybody knows the GOP only wants to hurt poor people.

This is beyond a leap of faith. This is even beyond hoping for unicorns. This is hoping for flying cars fueled entirely by unicorn farts. It’s delusion, to put it simply.

Republican ideology once allowed for creation of a health system that used government assistance to expand health insurance coverage through private insurance companies. That plan is ACA.

The GOP no longer has anything in its ideological universe that could lead to affordable, decent-quality insurance to millions who cannot afford it on their own.

The ACA repeal/replacement plans make very visible how cruel GOP ideology has become. Usually, the effects are less direct, or confined to smaller parts of the population with less of a voice.

The GOP is rudderless here.

So, the Repubs are playing Russian Roulette with the gun barrel pointed at many vulnerable citizens? See, it’s that Russian influence again!

“They’re going with Kierkegaard. It’s a giant leap of faith,” said Brat.

There it is Senate GOP “moderates”. You think you are just buying time for more discussion? You think passing “skinny repeal” is just to get to conference? Look at all the hoops GOPs in both branches have had to jump through just to cobble something together that would get a bare minimum number of votes to pass. Hey Senate GOPs. Remember when you guys used to jam Speaker Boehner with shit sandwiches and he would have to get Dem votes to pass must-pass legislation? You think House GOPs are gonna bail you out of your healthcare jam? You might have to eat the shit sandwich you are fixing to serve to them.

This is not a “skinny repeal”.

It is the “death spiral bill”.

“The most important thing in the world to me is my vacation.” Even if it means throwing the health care system into chaos and despair. Thanks, GOP!
The Senate GOP is willing to sign off on anything–even a bill that their own governors say is bad–for optics. During the Clinton administration, The Limbaughs of the world liked to say that Clinton valued “symbol over substance”–which got to be really ironic during the Bush administration. It’s practically the national motto these days.

Isn’t this the same flawed logic that got the sequester? “All today’s problems won’t exist tomorrow, because reasons”?!

Loved his biopic.
I thought Jerry Lewis was particularly good.
Eddie Murphy not so much. Thought the role needed more of a heavyweight.

What astonishes me is that Brat was so stupid as to put it into words – and publicly at that!

Stupidity seems to be highly prized in this administration. It’s also beginning to seem like it’s a prereq for joining the GOP.

Very well said. I do think they have a rudder, or a few of them–greed, hate, fear, and plain old meanness. And some of the rank and file may be just ignorant enough to believe the garbage they spew.

So your going to vote on something that you really don’t want to become law? Is that what they’re saying here?
