“Caught”? Not sure that is the correct word to use for a person who turns himself in. Let’s “catch” the other two.

Perhaps the “northern California” tip was a misdirection to help the other two evade capture? I think a prisoner who snitched on his escaped mates is looking at a death warrant when he is again behind bars.
