Our government relies to a great degree on simple human decency and shared understanding of what’s legal/ethical. Trump has no capacity for any of that. He’s a wild, rabid freak-creature that’s ravaging the village, but no one seems to know how to bring him down. Sure, he might lose the election, but the fact that he’s stayed in office exposes just how impotent our government is when it comes to dealing with a terror like Trump. He’s opened the door for others like him, so we damn sure better shore up our defenses for the next Medusa who attacks us.
I have an old college friend I talk to now and then. He’s a bit of a nut (too much acid back in the day) but he’s always fun to catch up with. His take this weekend is that Trump is an actual Satanist and this is all just human sacrifice. He doesn’t think Trump is dumb or crazy, but is the actual antichrist. Not metaphorical - actual.
