Hello, it’s the weekend. This is The Weekender
In the early weeks of the Trump administration, DHS started a media campaign. It would feature Secretary Kristi Noem, the former North Dakota governor eager to wear the uniforms and gear of ICE, the Coast Guard, and DHS’s other constituent agencies as she staged seemingly perpetual…
Kristi Noem is a heartless witch.
A Trump Cabinet meeting is probably comprised of more sociopaths in one room, at the same time, than you’ll experience anywhere else in your lifetime.
Who is obsessed with her own external appearance, ignoring entirely the ugliness within.
I’ve been pondering something lately. It’s assumed when Dems retake sufficient reins of power they’ll set about undoing and repairing the damage Trump and his minions have done to various institutions, agencies, norms of governing, etc. Strengthening laws and eliminating loopholes. Other measures too numerous to enumerate. But a lot of what Trump is doing is in the service of accruing power and dominance. Dems are not immune to those motivations. They want power and dominance. Dems would love to control the levers of power for a generation or more if they could pull it off.
So, how much of what Trump has done, in the service of enabling the accumulation of power, in service of dominating, silencing and controlling political foes, might Dems think eases the path to doing the same when they’re back in power?
I think it’s mistaken to believe Dems will be in a rush to roll back all that Trump has wrought. Some of his bullshit they may find useful.
Meanwhile, the fat fascistic fuckwit is golfing on the taxpayers’ time after a disappointingly DVT-free flight.
A Botox disaster!
Not using nearly enough for a positive outcome.

Mother Jones has republished a 2020 article about Trump’s Scottish golf courses.
At a hearing in 2012, a member of the Scottish Parliament asked Trump, who appeared in person, for evidence that the turbines would damage Scottish tourism.
“Well, first of all, I am the evidence. I’m more of an expert than the people you’d like me to hire…I am considered a world-class expert in tourism,” Trump declared without missing a beat, as the room broke out in laughter and audience members rolled their eyes.
McLaughlin puts it in simpler terms. “The abiding mystery is why Mr. Trump and his companies seem to relish in spending exorbitant amounts of money and losing exorbitant amounts of money here,” he says. “Given all the difficulties the Trump Organization has had, why is it so determined to throw more money at it?”
Aside from the strange business models, schemes, and possible money laundering, Trump was never going to con the skeptical and non-nonsense Scots as he would Americans.
Good morning all…
Here’s your morning dose of stupidity from RFKjr
RFK Jr. plans to axe all members of panel that advises on cancer screenings, preventive health services
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to oust all 16 members of a task force that recommends which preventive health services, such as cancer screenings, must be covered by insurance, according to a source familiar with the plans.
Kennedy views the group – the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) – as too “woke,” the source told ABC News.
… … … … … …
We’re on our own it seems…
I personally hope that the Dems would restructure many of the laws and institutions that have been destroyed by TSF and his minions, both to protect them from future malevolence and to bring them into the 21st century. If they can achieve majorities in the House and Senate, they will have the opportunity to re-evaluate and redefine the purpose and reach of the various agencies.
True, a stopped clock is right twice a day, but there is far more that would and should be undone, in the event the Dems get back in power. It is becoming increasingly unlikely, but there is always a chance.
Well, at least unlike the First Felon, RFKJr isn’t only targeting the Dems on the board. He’s taking them all out regardless of political leaning.
Translation: we’re an autocracy now and we can do anything that you can’t stop us from doing.
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

I’ve watched most all the Tour de France and my hat’s off to the folk who pave roads in France. Not a single pothole anywhere. The guys who work the roads in Tucson could learn from them
Too little Botox, or too much??
Speaking of Manifest Destiny, here’s a free link to an interesting article:
What if Everything We Know About Sacagawea Is Wrong?
A growing body of evidence suggests she might have survived into old age — which would entirely change the story of America’s most iconic Native forebear.
Too little, probably by several orders of magnitude.
