DHS Wades Into the Midterms CNN reported Monday that, starting Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security’s investigative arm, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), will be surging personnel and resources to tracking down the chimerical foe of noncitizen voting. HSI is the same investigative entity behind many of the abuses I described in yesterday’s newsletter, including shocking,…

Dan Driscoll’s Parting Shot - The Atlantic

During a White House meeting last week, Army Secretary Dan Driscoll brought his concerns about the future of the Army under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directly to President Trump—a sign of how far tensions between the two Pentagon leaders had escalated, and of the dysfunction inside the building, four people familiar with the conversation told us.

Trump was surprised when Driscoll told him how many generals and other top officers had been fired, pushed out, or passed over for promotion under Hegseth, one of the people said. Driscoll argued that the Army could not transform itself the way it needs to, because of the departure of so many leaders, this person said, adding that Trump expressed concern about the deep cuts to the Army’s senior leadership. Driscoll informed the president of his intention to resign—and by today, Driscoll was on his way out.

Hegseth’s purge of the military has been so dramatic that with Driscoll gone, the military’s largest service is left without a top civilian leader, a Senate-confirmed top general, a confirmed Army general in charge of operations, or a confirmed commander of Army troops in Europe

"Mike Johnson on Iran: “We’re in the process of winding this down … but even if not, I think we can explain why this was necessary…”
By all means, Moses explain why we needed to fight Bibi’s war for him.

Sometimes you need to crank up your not-a-war war before you can wind it down. If that doesn’t work, they can always try pulling the cartridge out and blowing on it or jiggling the key in the ignition. Surely these manly he-men know what they’re doing.

My favorite Kyle Clark vs. Victor Marx moment

“You claim that you’ve been all around the world, armed to the teeth, rescuing women and children from captivity, that you stopped human smugglers at the Mexico border and made them pay a price, that you, as a civilian, called in a U.S. Military airstrike that killed 70 ISIS fighters, that you were the first American into Gaza during the war with Israel, that you’ve done 150 high-risk missions and every one has been a success. You told me last week that it’s all true and that you don’t need to prove it to anyone. But you’re talking to voters now. How should voters decide whether you’ve lived one of the most extraordinary lives in human history, or whether you’re a liar and a fraud?”

Bari Weiss draws backlash from CBS staff over Abdul El-Sayed story

However, Weiss, who had no experience in television news production before Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison parachuted her into the role of editor-in-chief at CBS News, believed the deleted posts were scandalous enough to report on.

Sources told Status that Weiss even personally directed that the story’s headline be changed to specifically mention that El-Sayed had deleted posts referencing 9/11.

The decision left many in the CBS newsroom in disarray, with staffers seeing it as another example of poor news judgment damaging the network’s reputation and credibility under Weiss’ reign.

“They took a small nugget of news, forced it into something much larger, and messed up,” one CBS News staffer told Status.

A former senior CBS News staffer added that the story was “shameful” and that the “racism is overt.”
“He didn’t praise the 9/11 attackers, minimize the horror of the terrorist attacks, or promote conspiracy theories as to what happened that day—unlike many high-profile figures in the MAGA movement,” Darcy wrote.

“Like many mainstream figures at the time, he simply compared the death toll from the pandemic to 9/11 and argued that the government should respond to the public health crisis by marshaling its resources toward solving the problem with similar haste.”

Across the water in Rochester, located 150 kilometres southeast of Toronto, Americans are also opposing the removal of a name that is interwoven with businesses and landmarks throughout the region.

The city council of Rochester issued a proclamation on Friday to maintain Lake Ontario’s name and defy the President’s executive order. The proclamation called the “stunt” a distraction from other issues Americans face, including housing and the economy.

“To ‘change’ the identity of this lake, after centuries of being known by a single name, is as childish as it is futile,” the proclamation stated.

Well, who needs an army with boots on the ground in combat operations anyway. It’s bad political optics with body bags coming home. Trump has apparently decided that wars can be won with just air power and naval power, the way he’s winning in Iran!

Ok. So when I said that that voting by mail was screwed, I was told “impossible! is the safest form of voting”, “It will be illegal for the USPS to throw away your ballots”, “courts would not allow it” .

Get your tail ready for voting in person, take some reading material because the goons of the DHS and DOJ will be at Democratic polling places intimidating and slowing down the voting, no matter the legality.

  • A whistleblower is warning Congress that the new USPS policy on mail-in ballots will inevitably result in many not being delivered.

Hasn’t happened yet, it was blocked again by a court order and SCOTUS hasn’t made the final ruling. I don’t see a reason to panic until that happens. It would be an extreme stretch even for this court.
