Education Secretary Betsy DeVos urged career employees at the Education Department on Tuesday to “be the resistance” when President-elect Joe Biden ushers in his new administration next month.
Right Bets…just like YOU were. You put the ‘religious schools’ and the corporations that built charter schools over the STUDENTS. You screwed the STUDENTS with loans to pay the exorbitant tuition costs because you didn’t ‘believe’ in subsidizing. Your sanctimony is hard to take. Go home.
DeVos wants money to go to religious schools so we can have more fucked children like her.
Had Trump been reelected she might have added “Please the Priest 101” to some of the schools.
That is outrageous, but you can’t really blame her for going home with the one that brung her, can you?
My only question is whether she was cruel and stupid to begin with, or just stupid and learned the cruel from the guy who put her in a position for which she was completely unqualified.
“… Devos said in her call for resistance after years spent undermining the career employees of her department and blaming bureaucrats at the agency for making it difficult to get things done.”
Uh, I think that’s called ‘resistance,’ you know … for the good of the students.
I kinda think that the administration of Joe Biden - husband of Dr. Jill Biden, an actual and effective educator - will do just fine when it comes to the Department of Education and serving our students and their families, as well as the educators who teach them.
Well, my guess is they have four years’ experience in quietly resisting. My other guess is they’ll mostly be glad they can go back to just doing their jobs without surveillance and goals being foisted on them that were antithetical to their values. I think that’ll be general across the federal government except in the fever swamps of the DHS.
Education at all levels is big business. Defund public schools and create the alternative, charter schools.
A constant supply of customers.
Much like private prisons.
Someday, , a full examination of the student debt debacle/scam will be revealed. Did anyone ever think the cost of higher education escalated so much, so fast? Or, was it a calculated process among financiers, lenders, and state legislators. A backwards way to “privatize” state funded universities.
