One person was killed in downtown Detroit after someone in an SUV fired shots into a crowd of people protesting George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis custody, a Detroit police spokeswoman said Saturday.

TPM just posted something at the Editor’s Blog that suggested the violence could be beneficial to Trump. Before I read that I came across another story (link below) suggesting the opposite. I lean towards the violence/protests NOT helping Trump.

Well, well. Apparently out-of-town white rioters were present in Detroit in large numbers. And possibly hundreds of white guys were burning and looting in Minneapolis, and Wisconsin plates were seen everywhere.
I would call for an urgent FBI investigation, except of course that the FBI has gone to the dark side.

If Trump is reelected, what we’re seeing now will pale in comparison to the civil unrest and upheavals that will ensue. And all the while, the virus will continue to sicken and kill people.
Trump will try anything, but the majority of Americans are onto his scam, and they want him gone.
I think to benefit from this you’d have to be outside government at the moment and perceived as competent. And not to put too fine a point on it, you’d have to be relatively free of a history of egging on violence.
Do you suppose that it’s possible that these white nationalist outsiders have contacts with their counterparts inside the police and sheriff’s departments? Not a conspiracy theory, a question.

trump will do anything legal or illegal to stay in office where he is protected and where he gets to be the bully/dictator. If it means killing black people, burning down cities or cratering and dividing us further he will do it.
