DeSantis Quietly Hits At Trump Administration For Trying To Stop COVID Too Hard

At least in written form, he speaks with the syntax of Stanley Kowalski.

“What could you do earlier?” DeSantis asked, repeating the question. “When COVID was first coming we was engaged in it. I was telling Trump, ‘stop the flights from China,’ because we didn’t know what we were dealing with,” he said.

OT: Fingers crossed.

Although he’s smarter than Trump, etc. etc., I don’t really think the guy’s got a chance in hell—with the deplorables, possibly. Every other Republican or “Independent” - nope. I’d thought he’d be the main contender but I no longer think so. He isn’t repudiating Trump, just insulting him. Worst of both worlds.

“A Streetcar Named DeSantis”

Hey, it’s the “man of the people” je ne sais quoi that’s now a requirement. Correct grammer = wuss, elitist, tan suit, feel free to add yourself.

I hope they shred one another to pieces.

Thanks, but forget the tan suit. Tweed sports coat with arm patches, brown corduroy pants and a black turtleneck. I like the academic look.

OT. Well, golly, that’s not very sportsmanlike:

I’m having a difficult time trying trying to figure out exactly what the complaint is here, unless it’s just to complain - which seems about right based on past experiences.

He seems to be doing his best to prove you wrong, to wit:

“knowing now what I know then, if that was a threat earlier, I would have been much louder about trying to say ‘This is not–’” the governor said before cutting himself off.

That is a Palinesque (Sarah, not Michael) word salad.

DeSantis in the 1930’s-40’s “You’re being too hard on this polio thing” “We’re ok with iron lungs and keeping things as they are”. “Don’t Salk South Beach”.

Also not very good if they keep getting caught.

Dems in disarray…It’s a shame we can’t turn him into a newt

Donald Trump Jr.
@DonaldJTrumpJr

The left broke Kavanaugh. That was always their intention and it worked. They turned him into a Roberts.

Does DeSantis perhaps think he sees a weakness in Trump - that he’s showing the tiniest bit of rationality and possible caring about people other than himself?

That would destroy the legacy.

The thing has a greater range of facial emotional expressions than Tom Cotton.

I totally expect Trump to fire back with -without recognizing the irony - where’s the testing? Why are you hiding the testing?? First you hide your vaccination status, then you hide the testing. What else are you hiding? That you’re an elite Harvard/Yale guy?

I’m not sure De Santis can keep up with Trump if it devolves to insults, just like I’m not sure if the supply chain can keep up with my popcorn intake should that happen.

DeSantis comes across as a classic smooth-talking career politician, with an oddly high pitched speaking voice. The MAGA base glommed onto Trump because he was an outsider, “one of them,” which DeSantis most definitely is not. He reeks of the Swamp. I don’t think the base will trust him. They might go for a firebrand like Cotton instead, but I could be wrong.

As for his relationship to Trump, I think he can survive a few sideways jabs at Trump without much damage. Trump hates everyone who doesn’t abjectly kiss his ring, but if he doesn’t run again, and DeSantis looks like the frontrunner in the primary, then there is no benefit in attacking him. Why blow the chance at a pardon one day?
