This might not be the most important headline to break news today, but longtime readers of Where Things Stand may know that this author enjoys reveling in Gov. Trump fought to keep the ballroom fundraising contract secret. Here’s what’s in it.

The Trump administration’s contract governing hundreds of millions of dollars in private donations to build President Donald Trump’s White House ballroom shields donors’ identities, excludes the White House from conflict of interest protections and was disclosed only after a lawsuit and a judge’s order, records obtained by The Washington Post show.

It was a surprise, a surprise it was.

The Trump DoJ just indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) on bank fraud for their insertion on undercover reporters into racist and fascist organizations such as the KKK. You have to ask which side of righteousness is the DoJ on here.

The SPLC “defrauded” criminals or worse. These people were not innocent victims. These people have a habit of hanging innocent people from trees and getting away with it. SPLC’s undercover approach to outing these people is fully justified by the DoJ’s complete dereliction of duty in not doing it themselves.

I hope this immoral and unjustified prosecution goes nowhere.

It’ll make good press for a while until boredom sets in and it quietly goes away.

Imagine looking at Trump’s poll numbers and shoving people aside to board the sinking ship.

I think it’s safe to say the the “ investigation “ into Chairman Powell will soon come to a meaningless halt and then the nominee will be voted out the committee and pass the nomination on strictly party line votes. Sigh…. But there are probably bigger issues looming and I think that the national economy will tank itself long before this bozo gets the helm. There are dark days ahead my friends…

There are still more secrets:

The White House has repeatedly declined to release the government’s contracts with the private companies designing, engineering and building the ballroom.

Well, if Stephen Miller keeps deporting immigrants, I’m sure one will vacate a job suitable for DeSantis. Maybe a gig at a hog-slaughtering plant in Iowa. Gotta show that they’re helping the labor market by freeing up jobs that real Americans will do. And DeSantis is especially qualified for a job like that since he’s proven his familiarity with pigs.

He could just open a law office in a strip mall next to one of many golf courses that is owned by the CF.

maybe, maybe not. Keep in mind this is the CF we are talking about. He does have Powell on his list.

On the Tuesday morning CNBC interview, the president refused to consider dropping the case.

And as in all the nominees, they say what they think the senators should hear, but then do what ever the CF says to do.

what might be next for the Florida governor

I hear farmers are hiring. very important, according to Trump. Also, he could work for Uber. Assuming DeSantis can drive a car.

Well, it’s not like Ron’s qualified for much, except acting like a dictator.

the Republican plan is more money

Watch your wallet.

If you want to see Trump’s ballroom, just ask Speaker Johnson to open his mouth and stick out his tongue.

Keep begging Ron. Trump hates weaklings but he loves to see you grovel. But keep it up, the rest of us are mightily entertained.

If DeSantis wasn’t such a vulgar little climber one could almost feel sorry for him, at least until recalling how many people bear his boot marks on their shoulders and faces. He’s clearly earned some serious smacking around but the better punishment would probably be complete anonymity.

Central banks are normally both literal and figurative money-spinners for governments, and what government doesn’t need more money? Seniorage, the main source of this profit, comes from such services as providing currency and controlling the assets that back it up. Central banks also hold huge amounts of other central bank bonds to support global stability and trade. All these earnings are returned to the treasury. Since Covid, however, the Fed has lost money, giving it instead to prop up banks. The “ASSET” is about $250 billion, so the Fed has a way to go to get back to profitability. Powell has staunched the bleeding, but, Kevin, what is your plan? Say there is contagion from a crisis in private banking or another recession and return to unconventional measures such as quantitative easing.

I would have liked more relevant questions from the Senate than just “independence “. Fed independence should be a given, but how it handles and prepares for systemic crises is a series of choices. Please tell us about that.

DeSantis will have to leave office in January when his second term is up and he is reportedly “begging” President Trump for a job in his administration.

In case it somehow was not already abundantly clear, the answer to the question, “Is there any length to which Republicans won’t go in humiliating and debasing themselves in obedience to Trump?” is a resounding “NO.”
